The detail
This luxurious and welcoming cottage is nestled in the grounds of West Grange surrounded by stunning countryside views and grazing horses. Tranquil and secluded, but close to the bustling market town of Leyburn, it would be perfect for a couple seeking a romantic retreat with luxury amenities in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.
The interior is spacious and light with high ceilings and lavish furnishings that give the place a slightly oriental feel. The kitchen, living and dining area is open plan and thoughtfully presented. A sumptuous velvet sofa bedecked with soft cushions is perfectly placed to kick back and unwind with a glass of wine upon arrival. There's a toasty wood-burner in the corner to make things extra cosy and a large flat screen TV mounted on the wall if you fancy a movie night.
The kitchen has a large breakfast bar where you can prep fabulous meals and you'll find it very well equipped. Eat informally at the bar, perfect for breakfast, or make use of the intimate dining table in the corner. The windows and large glass patio doors mean you have wonderful views of the rolling countryside and the paddocks wherever you look. It's a truly tranquil place to recharge.
The bedroom can be found through sliding oak stable doors and features a four poster king size bed with plush warm linens and faux fur throws where you can nestle in and sleep peacefully. Painted in soothing teal colours with dark furnishings, it's an inviting and stylish room made all the more fabulous by the freestanding roll-top bathtub where you can luxuriate in a long bubble bath with a good book.
After a good night's rest invigorate yourself beneath the monsoon shower in the ensuite where you'll find the hosts have thoughtfully provided an array of Molton Brown toiletries, bathrobes and fluffy towels.
On a glorious sunny Yorkshire morning you might like to take your breakfast outside and enjoy the view from the alfresco dining area as you make your plans for the day. For an extra touch of luxury there's a large hot tub at one end of the patio, with robes provided, where you can sink into the warm water and let your cares slide away.
If you fancy a stroll, the market town of Leyburn is only one-and-a-half miles away in the heart of Wensleydale. There are plenty of boutique independent shops to browse and you'll find a good selection cafes and traditional pubs. For dining out, the hosts recommend The Sandpiper Inn, The Saddle Room and The Black Swan Hotel.
The small and lovely Harmby Waterfall is a 10-minute walk from the cottage and your local pub is The Pheasant Inn which serves excellent real ales.
You'll arrive to a lovely hamper of locally sourced Yorkshire goodies, but when you want to do a shop of your own you'll find Campbell's of Leyburn a fantastic place for everything with a food hall, a traditional butchers, a deli and an impressive wine selection (reputed to be the best in the North!).
Enjoy some great walks around the Dales, the hosts recommend The Shawl and its spectacular views, then head back to your cottage, light up the fire pit and watch the stars come out.
