The Details
Nestled in the dunes of the famous Camber Sands beach, Barefoot Beach House lets you step straight from your private terrace onto the sand. This unique weather boarded holiday home combines the best of simple coastal living and all the modern amenities that will make your stay just that little bit more luxurious. With the sea on your doorstep, you can go for a refreshing swim whenever you fancy, or stroll along the five miles of golden sands. In the evenings, relax around the fire pit with dinner cooking on the BBQ, and watch the sunset over the horizon.
Sleeping up to eight in four bedroom areas, this is a great option for large families or for a seaside escape with friends. The house feels bright and spacious with open plan rooms and huge windows letting in lots of natural light as well as offering stunning views. The interior style complements the natural surroundings with white walls and stripped wooden floors. The furnishings are a mix of the contemporary, such as the modern style kitchen and bathrooms, and rustic coastal decor, with salvaged beach art. There's also a new wood burner to keep you nice and warm in the colder months.
Downstairs, you’ll find the large open plan living, dining and kitchen area which leads directly out onto the deck with the beach beyond. The cosy living area is right next to those big windows, so on chillier evenings you can light the wood burner and still enjoy the view. The kitchen is kitted out with everything you’ll need and the large island means there’s plenty of space. There are also two double bedrooms downstairs, one of which can be made into a twin, a bathroom with a luxurious roll top bath and a separate toilet.
Head upstairs to find the beautiful master bedroom with the king-size double bed overlooking the beach, so you can wake up in the mornings and watch the waves. The upstairs is open plan with another sleeping area to the rear of the house with twin beds which can be shut off with a curtain. This makes it ideal for children, creating a family suite with a shower room and a toilet.
The spectacular Camber Sands stretches over two counties and is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. You’ll find plenty to do on the beach itself, from swimming and beachcombing to horse riding and kite surfing. If you want to venture further into the local area, the historic port town of Rye is just three miles away, an hour’s walk or a few minutes’ drive from the house. This beautiful town with its cobbled streets is full of interesting shops, restaurants, pubs and art galleries. A little further afield is Dungeness and the unique landscape of Britain’s only desert. You could also visit the wine cellars at Winchelsea, the gardens at Great Dixter or the Aquarium at Hastings, all within an hour of Barefoot Beach House.
