The wonderful waterside location of Backwater offers a new way to holiday on the Norfolk Broads. On a secluded lagoon in Wroxham, this four-bedroom, architect-designed house could hardly be closer to the water’s edge, and offers unrivalled tranquility to up to eight guests.
With water on three sides, the house has a large, multi-level deck area where you can relax in the sun, enjoy a meal or disembark to take a boat out on Wroxham Broad or the River Bure. The lagoon is full of wildlife in the summer, not just water-lilies but a family of otters too, so look out for them as you dip your toes in the water.
The interior of the house has been designed with skill and attention to detail. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide fine views from many of the rooms. Two downstairs bedrooms open out on to the East Deck, and the lounge to the West Deck, while a dining room has views of the South Deck.
Backwater has a fully-equipped kitchen with a microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and Gaggia coffee machine among other high-quality appliances, plus there’s a gas barbecue to enjoy outside. The library gives you a space to lose yourself in a book, or you could enjoy the entertainment provided by the 50-inch Smart TV or Sonos multi-room sound system.
The house is kept warm and comfortable by underfloor heating and a wood-burning stove. You have two double bedrooms, a twin, and another bedroom which can be used as either. The master bedroom has its own en suite with a walk-in shower, and the main bathroom serves the two bedrooms on the ground floor.
Known as the capital of the Norfolk Broads, Wroxham is about one mile away from Backwater and, along with neighbouring Hoveton, offers plenty in the way of restaurants, cafés and amenities, many located on the riverside. With the Bure Valley Railway steam trains, Miniature Worlds and lovely walks to take with an ice cream in hand, it’s a lovely place to enjoy with the family.
If you fancy a day out in the city, you’re only 20 minutes’ drive from Norwich, where you will find art galleries, an IMAX cinema and Norwich Castle all close to the city’s varied offering of shops and restaurants. But when it’s so relaxing at Backwater, would you really want to be anywhere else?
