Situated in Corbridge, Northumberland, Aydon Castle Cottage is a real hidden gem, that sits in a luscious woodland setting. Surrounded by the elegant fortifications of 13th Century Aydon Castle, this property sleeps four people in two comfy bedrooms offering guests a tranquil, relaxing retreat.
The cottage is built using Northumbrian stone, and is designed in the classic two down, two up configuration. It's cosy throughout and has been heated by an efficient and environmentally friendly ground source heat pump. It also has a charming, rural feel, with warm furnishings, and plenty of nice design touches.
The main social space of the cottage is the classic country sitting room. Tweed and linen combine with the traditional stone inglenook fireplace that houses a large wood burning stove to give the place plenty of cosy charm. Guests can gather round and enjoy a glass of wine in front of the fire and spend their evenings socialising in comfort.
The well equipped kitchen has integrated appliances meaning cooking is a joy, and this space extends into a sun room to the rear of the cottage where you can sit with a book or a crisp evening Prosecco when the temperature is just right.
The two bedrooms are upstairs - one is a king size room, and the other is a twin, with zip and link beds allowing them to be made up as a double. This offers added flexibility, making Aydon Castle Cottage ideal for pairs of couples, groups of friends, and small families. Both bedrooms have wonderful front facing views towards the fortified manor house of Aydon Castle. There’s also a shared family bathroom upstairs that has a bath, shower, and heated towel rail.
