Much-loved by coast-lovers, history-enthusiasts and serious foodies, this part of Cornwall is well worth the journey.
Marine Villa is a lovely Georgian home that has an enviable spot within this pretty, maritime village. Its iconic stone facade is guarded by a colourful courtyard garden, while its interior design has a timeless, boutique finish. Crisp white walls are adorned with a selection of vintage oil paintings that sit beside rustic pots and ornament-filled shelving. With a gorgeous collection of original furniture and salvaged coastal objects, each and every room tells its own fascinating story.
Beyond the grand hallway and its high ceilings are the beautiful living areas of this seafront villa. The luxurious sitting room combines comfort with style, and has sumptuous sofas, an open fireplace and interesting artwork. A sunlit dining room is just across the hallway and has a neutral colour palette and a solid oak table. A well-equipped kitchen can also be found at the back of the house complete with designer crockery and contemporary mod-cons.
Upstairs, there are two cosy double bedrooms that have captivating sea views and a calm and soothing atmosphere. French antiques sit on thick floorboards, while super-king-size beds are joined by modern en-suite bathrooms. Handpicked objects are scattered around the rooms and are joined by indulgent roll top baths and classic fittings. A further small room can also be found off the master suite that is perfect for two little ones to have a comfortable night's sleep.
Blossom Cottage is huddled in this sleepy, little village and is part of a pretty row of Georgian terraces residing on the seafront. Its beautiful courtyard garden is blessed with brightly coloured flowers while its interior design oozes with a boutique, coastal style. Natural materials and neutral colours create a timeless image and include solid wood floorboards, crisp white walls and locally sourced slate. Handpicked artwork and marine objects add to its sophisticated seaside-feel and are joined by striking antique pieces and modern home furnishings.
The comfortable living room is a cosy Captain's Cabin and has two ocean blue sofas surrounding a toasty wood burner. A vintage treasure chest sits grandly in the middle and is joined by large canvas paintings and a shabby chic dining table. Head into the country kitchen to find all the mod-cons you could need before dining out on the terrace or curling up for an evening in.
When you're ready for bed, there are two gorgeous double bedrooms that have sumptuous mattresses, deluxe bedding and spectacular sea views. Furnished with a special attention to detail and a classic simplicity, they are minimalist yet inviting rooms that have a soothing atmosphere. A further bedroom is also on hand for an extra one and has a comfy single bed for resting weary little heads.
The Cottage keeps things cosy with a king and small double bedroom, each one decked out with White Company sheets and duvets, and some eye-catching, hand-picked furnishings. The bathroom is equally enticing, featuring a cast-iron bath, powerful shower and plenty of soft, fluffy towels.
The modern kitchen has an oven, microwave, fridge freezer and dishwasher, and you'll find all your laundry needs taken care of in one of the cottage's three outbuildings. In one of the others, you'll discover some logs for the wood-burner which adds warmth to the inviting living room, with TV, DVD and CD player, some seriously comfy seating and understated oak floor.
You can dine inside or out at The Cottage, in the courtyard garden at the back, or floral front garden make for fine al fresco choices. A menu of top-quality food, including some local delicacies, can be delivered to your door if you choose.
Olivia's has room for 4, making it a great choice for 2 couples to share. If you're bringing the family, you'll find the cottage is equipped with all kinds of baby-friendly paraphernalia to make life easier, from a buggy to a baby bath.
You can curl up for hours in the cosy, oak-floored sitting room where a pair of sumptuous sofas are parked beside the wood-burning stove, and there's a dining area where you can enjoy some top-quality dishes delivered straight to you. Just let the owners know what you would like in advance, and it can all be arranged. When the sun is shining, you might prefer to dine out in the garden, perfect for a leisurely breakfast (which can also be taken care of).
If you do fancy cooking for yourself, the kitchen has all the essential appliances, sleek wooden worktops and cool slate floors. In an extension to the original cottage, the bathroom has been kitted out with the same attention to detail, boasting modern style and a top-notch shower and bath. A king and double bedroom with White Company duvets and Egyptian cotton sheets encourage lazy mornings and early nights, each one equipped with a host of accessories.
You don't have to venture far to see the jewels of the village as the picturesque seafront is just 100 yards from your door. From here, you can day trip at the Eden Project or head to the Lost Gardens of Heligan, before driving into St Austell or on to Padstow, Falmouth or Newquay. For a culinary treat, head to Rick Stein's restaurant in Padstow or Jamie Oliver's Fifteen, before trying Nathan Outlaw's restaurant in Port Isaac or Paul Ainsworth's No.6. The lovely owners at Blossom Cottage have even teamed up with some great local businesses so that you can indulge in Spa at Home treatments and Great Grub dishes.
