The details
The stunning surroundings of the Lake District make Another Place so much more than that. Some 18 acres of National Park form a big part of the experience, while inside you have a restaurant, library, swimming pool and more.
Housed in a Georgian building with an added modern wing, the hotel combines contemporary and classic style, with light, comfortable spaces to relax and enjoy views of Ullswater and the fells. You can grab a free coffee in the entrance hall and take a wander down to the shore, through the gardens or the walnut grove.
Dogs are very welcome at Another Place, and will love the open spaces and great walks. There are several dog-friendly rooms too. It’s also great for families, with children’s play areas including a safari tent and wooden cabin, and supervised activities like crafts and forest skills.
Another Place offers beautifully furnished rooms of various sizes, many with lake views and attractive vintage furnishings. Larger suites, located in the original building have space for extra beds, and the thoughtfully designed family suites add some extra privacy with separate bunkrooms for the children. There are separate one and two-bedroom cottages too. Willow cottage, a large family suite designed by Lynsey Ford, winner of Interior Design Master.
The Living Space is an area to meet up, lounge around, eat and drink – there’s a bar and a terrace to enjoy the fresh air while you do. At breakfast time, you will be spoilt for choice with an open pantry selection of pastries, smoked salmon, bagels, smoothies, cereals and more. You can savour a freshly prepared omelette, porridge or make your own waffles… whether you want breakfast American or continental-style, it’s all here.
Overlooking the lake, the Rampsbeck Restaurant serves three-course meals each evening, inspired by the rich food heritage of the region. Expect some hearty, home-style puddings and comforting classics from the open kitchen, like bread and butter pudding, Herdwick lamb and Cumberland sausage. If you’re off out exploring all day, you can get lunch to take away, or even a whole picnic.
The relaxing Swim Club has a 20-metre indoor pool, outdoor hot tub, sauna, cardio room and treatment rooms. It also hosts swim clinics and yoga weekends. Of course, the surroundings lend themselves to activity too, whether you choose to take to the water with a kayak or paddleboard, wild swim, or go biking, running or walking in the fells. Go Ape at Whinlatter Forest and boat cruises offer more chances to get out and about.
For that life-affirming Lake District experience, Another Place is the place to be.
