The detail

Breathe in fresh mountain air and gaze at breath-taking scenery, as you retreat to these Alpine lodges in Austria’s iconic spa, culture and ski resort Bad Gastein. Boasting spectacular views across the dramatic Austrian Alps, the Alpenlofts are luxury hideouts where you can truly sit back and relax. Embrace the peace and tranquillity of your natural surroundings, revitalising your soul and enjoying a new-found vitality. Explore the lush valley floor or the magical snow-capped peaks, or the atmospheric town with their Belle Époque streets.

The five Alpenlofts form a serene mountain community and are nestled into the hillside right along the popular car-free Kaiser-Wilhelm-Promenade. Expertly hand-crafted from local materials, they have a natural simplicity that blends in with the idyllic mountain scenery. Flexible accommodation makes them perfect for couples, friends and families, with the largest lodge sleeping groups of up to 10-12 people.

Inside, you can expect a visual treat, fusing bare woods and traditional crafts with chic, designer furnishings. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame captivating views and let the Alpine light flood the open-plan rooms. Local larch and white-oiled spruce are joined by funky prints and polished stone, while wishbone chairs and hide rugs sit next to fluffy, fur throws. There are large living spaces and private mountain-view terraces, along with a mix of private spas, steaming saunas and impressive, feature artwork.

Each characterful lodge has its own distinctive style, capturing the transient nature of the Nordic hillsides. There’s the minimalist Camillo lodge with its fresh, contemporary vibes, or the bohemian Madero chalet with its colourful patterns and quirky designs. Choose the refined character of Tessa for its calming colours and soothing sauna or the casual charms of Rosa for its intimate spa and infinity terrace. For a more distinguished mountain ranch opt for the masculine tones of Ed, with its retro leather, rich colours and dignified edge.

Head out from your secret lodge to explore the stunning natural paradise, discovering luxuriant valleys, striking peaks and pretty, hillside villages. In the summer, you can enjoy mesmerising mountain walks, biking along the valley floor or hiking amongst the forests. As the seasons start to change and the snow starts to fall, it becomes a winter wonderland for ski-lovers and snowboarders.

Recover from thrilling adventures in Bad Gastein’s rejuvenating thermal waters, uncovering its artistic edge and cultural persona. Eat in the local, gourmet restaurants and enjoy the cosmopolitan bars, before retreating to your peaceful lodge for a night beneath the stars.

The 5 Alpenlofts are located a 1 min walk from design hotel Haus Hirt Alpine Spa & Hotel with a spa centre, restaurant and bar.
