The details
Blend modern living with traditional charm, while surrounded by stunning Scottish mountains, at 9 Achnacloich. This renovated croft house is located on the peaceful Sleat peninsula on the Isle of Skye and boasts breath-taking views of the Cuillins and the coastline.
Sleeping six, guests enter the cottage into the bright porch before a double height hallway leads them to the lounge. Complete with a wood burner, comfy sofas, and a flat screen TV, this is the perfect place for a cosy night in after a day out exploring the island. A little further down the hallway is the dining room with table and chairs for six people and exposed stone walls, which gives the space plenty of charm.
The kitchen is fully equipped with two ovens, a five-ring halogen hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and a microwave. There is also a second dining table seating six people. This dining table offers nice views of the surrounding hills and makes breakfasts with your loved ones a delight. There is also a second seating area in the kitchen space which is in the ideal spot for taking in the beautiful sea views in comfort. Coming off the kitchen is a utility room with two washer/dryers for added convenience.
Guests can get upstairs from two directions. The first is via a spiral staircase in the kitchen and leads to the master bedroom, which has a super-king size bed, seated area, and amazing sea and mountain views. It also has an en-suite bathroom with a bath with a shower overhead for added privacy.
A separate staircase from the main hallway then goes to the other two bedrooms, both of which also have super-king size beds - although these can be set up as twin beds upon request. These rooms have views of the crofts and the hills and share the family bathroom with a shower over the bath.
Outside, 9 Achnacloich is surrounded by a grassy garden with a picnic bench and there is parking for three cars at the front of the house. However, its location in South Skye means that natural beauty is also right on your doorstep. Sleat is known as ‘the garden of Skye’ and is steeped in Gaelic culture and is home to Armadale Castle. There are also many walks around the area, with the views across Loch Eishort particularly spectacular.

Our family had a wonderful stay at Achnacloich for the October break. The house had all the amenities we needed, including a full stocked kitchen and utility room, as well as an inviting dining area, office and living room with board games and a log burner. The surrounding areas were just stunning and our favourite thing of all was to sit and enjoy a quiet coffee while we watched the sunrise, and later set over the bay. Oh and see an occasional stag wander through the garden! The place is beautifully designed, airy and light, with lovely views across the mountains and sea. You have peninsula hiking trails and a beach within a couple of minutes from the house, and there are some seriously good restaurants and cafes within 15mins drive. You will need a car but once you arrive you can enjoy the peace and quiet away from the busier northern island roads and towns. Cannot recommend this place highly enough!

We had such a nice break and the house was so lovely, a real home from home and loved the little home office which I used during the stay and enjoyed the log fire and big open plan space. Is great for a family if you want to be a bit away from things!
