Learn moreLocated in the charming village of Millbrook close to the border between Cornwall and Devon, the Old Fire Station is a cosy cottage for up to six offering a relaxing break close to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This lovely home from home sits in the Rame Peninsula, which is known by many as Cornwall’s forgotten corner. The cottage overlooks a picturesque tidal lake that is teeming with wildlife, and guests are able to head out and enjoy marvellous estuary walks and pretty beaches, all of which are within walking distance.
Inside, the cottage offers a minimalist design with whitewashed walls and rural charm thanks to the exposed beams and brickwork. The cottage sleeps between four and six guests, making it ideal for families, couples and groups of friends looking for a break whatever the time of year.
Relax and unwind in the dual aspect lounge, which has feature walls and exposed beams. There are two big comfy sofas where you can settle in for an evening socialising with a glass of wine or enjoy a movie night with your loved ones.
When it comes to meal times, the kitchen is nicely equipped for preparing delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners, and the stable door opens up onto a small enclosed courtyard where you can sit with your morning coffee. The kitchen features a fan oven, a hob, a Lavazza coffee maker, a microwave and all the usual essentials. Enjoy meals in the contemporary dining room with space for six.
As the evening rolls in, the three bedrooms offer a cosy and comfy night’s sleep. The king size master bedroom has a glass sliding door that opens up onto a glass-fronted balcony with comfy seating. This is a great place to enjoy some peace, whilst taking in the views of the lake. The second bedroom features a double bed, whilst the third has twin beds and a beautiful exposed feature chimney breast.
The cottage also has a modern bathroom, with a luxurious freestanding bath tub where you can rest and unwind in tranquillity after a day out exploring the area. There’s also a separate shower for added convenience and a heated towel rail for that extra touch of opulence. An additional WC with hand basin is located across the hall.
When it comes to filling your days, the Rame Peninsula is made up of tidal creeks, sandy beaches, rolling fields and outstanding country parks all of which are waiting to be explored. Nature lovers will adore the rugged coastline, which makes up a section of the South West Coast Path.
Cawsand and Kingsand are both well worth a visit, with numerous pubs, cafes and restaurants on offer, and both also provide safe sandy beaches that are ideal for relaxing and sea swimming. You can also catch the seasonal passenger ferry that runs from Cawsand to Plymouth Barbican.
