Soak in magnificent sea views at this stunning restored farmhouse on a private estate at the gateway to the Galloway Hills. Laggan Behind is a traditional whitewashed Scottish farmhouse with an elegant glass two-storey extension which allows guests to drink in the magnificent views wherever they are in the house and whatever the weather.
The interior is renovated to an incredibly high standard and guests will be wowed as they step into the elegant open plan kitchen, living and dining area. French doors run along the downstairs and a double height ceiling keeps the area light, bright and welcoming. Polished wooden floorboards are styled perfectly with the white farmhouse style kitchen units and the cooking area has everything cooks need to chop, steam and bake the perfect meal. A large kitchen island provides plenty of space for guests to help out with the cooking or to simply keep the cook's wine glasses regularly topped up. A beautiful wooden circular dining table is positioned for visitors to take in those views meaning any meal enjoyed in this spot is sure to one to remember. And then, after dinner, settle into a comfy sofa in the living area and warm toes by wood burning fire.
The master bedroom boasts the most magnificent wall of windows with incredible views of the green fields as they roll down to the seashore and the horizon beyond. The further two bedrooms are similarly stylish, with a neutral decor and tasteful art reflecting the magical environment outside.
On sunny evenings kickback on the outdoor terrace area and relax on the outdoor seating, fire up the Egg barbecue and make the most of the terrific locally caught seafood before star spotting commences under the unpolluted Scottish sky. Or why not hop in the six person hot tub and enjoy a little slice of luxury? The terrace drops down onto a lush lawn and, with the sea as the backdrop, it's a great place to play some outdoor games with the family.
On the days when cooking is not part of the holiday itinerary, take the short walk up the hill to Gather, the estate's wonderful restaurant. It opens at 9am, so head up there for everything, from hearty breakfasts to elegant evening dinners.
