The detail

High Tide is an elegant and spacious holiday home right by the pretty pebble beach in Beaumaris, and only a five-minute walk to the bustling centre of town. It would be an excellent choice for a family of six or three couples seeking a proper seaside holiday in a charming Welsh town.

Park outside the cheerful pink Victorian building and head up the architectural staircase to your lovely escape by the sea. You'll enter into a large open plan living room with a good sized kitchen and charming corner dining table. The furniture is an eclectic mix of Victorian and mid-century, each piece carefully selected to create an environment that is both welcoming and very stylish.

The kitchen runs the length of one wall and is modern and sleek with everything you'll need to cook meals which you can share at the cool corner dining table which has curved booth seating and three comfy high backed leather chairs. It's a great spot for a quick breakfast or a long lazy dinner with plenty of wine.

The centre of the room is home to a large blue L-shaped sofa and armchair, where you can kick back after a day out and enjoy a movie on the wall-mounted flat screen. An electric fire will keep you cosy as you unwind and enjoy the fabulous views over the Menai Straight to Eryri (Snowdonia). The whole space is comfortable without being cluttered and the hosts have added some seaside inspired art to the walls and some pretty soft furnishings and lamps to make it feel homely.

There are three big bedrooms, the main one of which is accessed directly from the lounge and boasts a very large antique carved bed where you can sink into sleep like a queen. The beds are made up with high quality linens, fluffy duvets and finished off with pretty colourful throws and cushions. The main bedroom shares a Jack and Jill ensuite shower with the second room which has a super-king size bed and is at the rear of the property. These connected rooms are perfect for those with children. The third bedroom is also a super-king and slightly more private. It has use of a large modern family bathroom with a tub and shower overhead. All the rooms have great views which you can enjoy from the comfort of the big cosy beds with your morning coffee. You are on holiday after all!

Once you're up, bathed and ready to go, head back through for a hearty breakfast, pop the dishes in the dishwasher and head out to enjoy all that Beaumaris has to offer. The apartment has a small courtyard at the back with plenty of seating and a BBQ if you feel like dining alfresco. And there is a much larger shared communal garden at the front of the property where you'll find more seating and loungers for a spot of sunbathing or an afternoon nap.

If you fancy starting your day with a small walk by the water (maybe with a dog or two in tow), you're moments away from the pretty pebbled beach. And if you want something more invigorating you'll have direct access to the coastal path heading towards nearby Anglesey.

To grab some lunch, a pint, or stock up on food, the town centre of Beaumaris is only a five-minute walk away. For those with a keen interest in history, Beaumaris castle is a United Nations World Heritage site, and the Goal has a wonderful guided tour. There are plenty of cafes, pubs and restaurants to try and the hosts recommend fish and chips from Neptune's, tea and cake at Beaus Tearoom and a good pub meal at The Bull.
