Tucked away in a spectacularly remote nook of the Scottish Highlands on the rugged shores of Loch na Beunee Moire, The Boathouse offers couples a fabulous, romantic getaway. This off-grid bothy provides incredible views of the water and surrounding scenery, which you can enjoy from the big leather chairs inside or from the comfort of your own private hot tub! Guests can also head out onto the loch on their very own row boat, that sits moored up next to the bothy.
Inside, the stylish bothy features an open plan living area that includes a rustic log-burning fireplace and stove to ensure you stay toasty and warm all year round. The living area also features two luxurious leather chairs that sit facing out over the loch. So put your feet up, grab the binoculars and take in the view in style, whilst seeing which birds you can spot.
The open plan living space also features the quaint kitchen, which features the wood burning stove and oven for some rustic cooking as well as a fridge and a kettle for morning cuppas. There’s even a cute dining table for two with barstools where you can sit and enjoy a meal with a view.
Guests can enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep in the minimalist bedroom, which has huge floor-to-ceiling windows letting the outside in. So you can wake up in the morning and enjoy your coffee with a view as you gaze out over the loch.
Eco-friendly travellers will be delighted to hear that The Boathouse is entirely off-grid, with electricity being supplied by solar panels and a wind turbine. The property also uses a modern, odourless composting toilet.
Step outside and head out onto the water with your rods in the row boat, where you can enjoy some catch and release fly fishing for native brown trout.
If you wish to venture further afield, you’re nicely placed to explore the beauty of the Scottish Highlands.
The Boathouse sits amidst the scenic splendour of Glen Affric and the nearby glens of Cannich and Strathfarrar are rugged and home to herds of red deer. Further down Strathglass you come to Aigas where you can visit the salmon lift in the dam or enjoy a round of golf on the nine hole golf course.
If you want to explore on foot, then the nearby forest trails will provide the perfect environment for young and old to walk, and you can keep your eyes peeled for the array of wildlife on offer. For the more active among you, there are ample opportunities in the forests around Tomich for exploring on your mountain bike.
