Dating back to 1833, Keiss Harbour House has all the charm of its era while offering the modern conveniences necessary for the perfect relaxing getaway. That means you can make the most of the beautiful modern interior, fully equipped kitchen, and the complimentary bottle of local Whisky on arrival. And that is without even mentioning the steam room! The location isn't too shabby either. The house overlooks the beautiful little harbour and benefits from stunning uninterrupted views out to sea. Sleeping up to 12 guests and being situated in one of Scotland's most picturesque regions, Keiss Harbour House is the perfect getaway for friend and family groups wanting to escape the noise of the city.
The beautifully bedecked modern interior of Keiss Harbour House wonderfully juxtaposes its more quaint exterior, while still staying true to the property's roots. Throughout, guests will find meticulously decorated contemporary rooms complimented by a variety of historical curios such as maps, old photos, history books, and reference guides. Timber beamed ceilings can be found in several rooms.
The layout of the house is such that every room benefits from the uninterrupted sea views, with the reception rooms being on the top floor to maximise impact. The spacious kitchen comes fully equipped and there is a large dining table from which to enjoy your freshly cooked meal. The house sleeps up to 12 people, spread out among five rooms and sharing three bathrooms. Three of the bedrooms are have king sized beds, one has two single beds, and the final room has two sets of bunk beds. Two of the bedrooms boast balcony doors which open onto the harbour.
Keiss and the Sinclair's Bay area are home to various beaches (both sand and pebble) worth visiting. Just beyond Keiss and Reiss beaches you will find Wick Golf Club. This stretch of beach is popular with surfers, dog-walkers, and horse-riders alike. The area is also ideal for nature watchers, with puffins, guillemots, cormorants, herons, dolphins, and seals (among others) all visiting the area. In the summer you may even spot an orca (killer-whale) or two! For the history buff, nearby places of interest include two Iron Age brochs, the 16th Century ruins of Keiss Castle - overlooked by the 18th Century tower house - and a WWII pillbox. The county of Caithness is also one of the UK's best areas for viewing the northern lights. Come between October and April for the best chance of catching a glimpse.
