With a genuinely stunning setting, looking out on Loch Torridon and the hills beyond, Badan Mhugaidh is the place to go for that dream Scottish break. Combining the tranquility of the Highlands with a little understated luxury, there are two cottages for four – available separately or together – which enjoy this scenic position on the River Balgy.
The cottages are adjacent to each other, separated (or joined) by a common boot room – handy for walkers to store their stuff, and with a sleeping place for a canine companion. There are miles and miles of walks to enjoy in the surrounding area, which should make everyone happy.
Each cottage has an inviting open-plan living area, with views of the loch and the Torridon Hills. With oak floors and underfloor heating, the lounges are equipped with wood-burning stoves to keep everything cosy. A flatscreen Smart TV will give you plenty to watch, and there’s free Wi-Fi throughout the cottages too.
Your kitchen comes equipped with lots of nice-to-haves, including a Nespresso machine, wine cooler and Dualit toaster. You also have a double oven, microwave, induction hob, dishwasher and fridge freezer, so you’ll be set for virtually any culinary challenge.
It gets even better with the two superb bedrooms featuring super-comfy duck feather duvets, Egyptian cotton sheets and bath robes. A super-king downstairs and a twin upstairs (or the other way around if you like) both feature gorgeous en suites. The upstairs room has a rainfall shower, while the downstairs bedroom adds in a seductive double-ended bath. Fluffy towels are provided too, of course.
A furnished larch deck overlooking the loch is the perfect place to enjoy an evening drink. You are certainly unlikely to be disturbed. Some excellent eateries can be found in Torridon village, with a hotel restaurant, pub, and a shop and café a short walk away. You will also find homemade bakes at the Torridon Stores – and they can also stock up your cupboards at the cottage, so your favourites are waiting for you on arrival.
Made for outdoor activity, the area is popular for diving, sailing, cycling and golf, to name a few. The driving is pretty spectacular too – you can go for miles and not see another car, so head for Applecross or Diabaig and enjoy some breathtaking views out towards the Isle of Skye.

Leave a reviewWonderful accomodation in beautiful and dramatic setting. We were welcomed warmly, and had everything we needed for 2 adults couples, a baby and a dog. We ran in the mountains, paddle boarded, walked, swam and enjoyed the great local pubs/cafés. We would stay again!

Although we are reluctant to leave review of this magical place as we would like to keep it to ourselves We know that Jan and Nigel need to run their business ???? It’s wonderful, has everything you need to relax and explore this beautiful area. We loved it and it’s so much better than a hotel.

The most amazing place and a lovely couple made us all so welcome. The dogs loved it to ! Red deer in the morning just outside the house and just stunning scenery around the whole property. Torridan mountains and Loch make it magical. So quiet and peaceful. Fab seafood nearby. High recommend this accommadation. We will be back in October !
