Close in distance, yet far from the hustle and bustle of London’s streets, this two-bedroom cottage is the perfect getaway in rural West Sussex.
Woodlands Cottage was built in 1868, for the estate’s game keeper at the time and now hosts a comfortable stay for four, in two bedrooms.
The cottage's quaint, open plan living space features a lounge space, a dining table and a cute kitchen. The lounge is home to a comfy sofa and two big arm chairs, making it ideal for evening socialising. The space also features a nice wood burning stove to keep you toasty and warm in the colder months. The kitchen is nicely equipped with the appliances you'll need to prepare meals, which you can enjoy on the round dining table that comfortably seats four.
Upstairs, are the two cosy bedrooms. There is one double and one twin on offer, providing you with nice flexibility during your stay. The bedrooms share access to a family bathroom which has a shower over a bath, as well as a WC and a basin.
Stepping outside, the cottage has a nice lawned garden, which has an outdoor dining set. This means that when the weather's warm, you and your loved ones can enjoy a delicious meal alfresco in the summer sunshine.
You're also nicely placed to explore a number of fab locations. You're a stone's throw from Nymans, a grade II listed National Trust garden for all seasons and is set around a romantic house and ruins. And as Woodlands Cottage is a National Trust property, guests that book the cottage get free access to all National Trust locations in the area, including Nymans.
You’ll be nestled in the centre of Nymans woods, excellent for walking, cycling, bird and wildlife watching. There are woodland paths to follow revealing a tranquil lake, cascades, sandstone outcrops and giant redwood trees. Beyond the woods at the top of the hill is Nymans, with its house, ruins and world renowned gardens.
Nymans is situated in the Weald and close to the Ashdown Forest. From the cottage you can drive 30 minutes to the beach and historic Lanes of Brighton or to the extensive biking and walking trails of the South Downs.
