Perched close to the beautiful and nationally renowned beaches of Bude, Wonnacott is a one-of-a-kind barn conversion, comfortably sleeping up to four guests and available to rent on a self-catered basis. Stunningly renovated and boasting elegant rooms, judicious decor, and an abundance of quirky and individual touches, Wonnacott is popular with pairs of couples, small families and other groups looking to spend time in this under-explored corner of Cornwall while living in style and comfort.
The property started life as an agricultural building, and as a result it benefits from high ceilings, broad open space and a sturdy, imposing frame. Downstairs, a combination of rural farmhouse style furniture and slick, urbane architecture have come together to create a truly special and interesting space. Whether your group is hunkering down to eat a slap up meal at the wooden kitchen table before setting off for the beach, or reclining in the ultra-comfy sofas and watching a movie, warmed by the wood burning stove, every moment in Wonnacott is comfortable and memorable thanks to modern and traditional styles coming together harmoniously.
The outside space is fab, with outdoor dining furniture and seating perched around a firepit which can keep you warm long into the night. This space is ideal for sitting with loved ones whilst taking in the view, and there's even a hot tub, offering an added slice of luxury. And to top it off even more, back inside is a sauna, offering you the chance to remove some toxins and relieve any aching muscles.
The kitchen offers everything that a keen home chef could want, and no matter whether it's a quick and easy meal for hungry youngsters or a celebratory meal for a lifelong friend, the kitchen and dining spaces will not disappoint, especially when you've sourced charcuterie from the studio opposite, and fresh seafood from in town. Upstairs, you'll find the spacious bedrooms made up with king sized beds, amazing views over the surrounding pastures and the sea, and ample storage space. As with the rest of the property, no detail has been overlooked in creating a genuinely special and luxurious home, where no corners have been cut.
Staying with friends or family in a house like Wonnacott, there really is little reason to have to leave the area, especially with a fantastic pub and the village shop both within easy walking distance. That said, you are well located for jaunts to Bude and beyond, making this an ideal cottage for lovers of art, food, hiking, swimming and surfing. From the open gallery and studio days where you can see the work of local artists to seafood restaurants celebrated all over the country, the immediate area is a hotbed of craft and food. Being just a few miles inland, you're also perfectly located to go swimming or undertake your first surfing lesson, while everything from casual cafes with great breakfasts to more upmarket fish restaurants can all be found in the immediate area.
