The detail

This stunning retreat is located in the heart of the Cornish fishing village Kingsand, on the remote Rame Peninsular. Kingsand really is one of Cornwall’s best-kept secrets, and you’ll have excellent access to its delightful beach and array of shops, cafes and pubs. The cottage itself has been lovingly refurbished into a modern home, paying homage to its historic roots and retaining its original charm. It’s the perfect haven to return to after a day spent out at the seaside or exploring the peninsular.

The property is spread across three floors. On the ground floor you’ll find the lounge and country-style kitchen and diner, characterised by traditional low ceilings and exposed sandstone walls. The living area is designed for comfort, with deep sofas and a wood-burning stove waiting to be fired up for cosy evenings in. If you fancy catering for yourselves, you’ll be pleased to know the kitchen comes equipped with everything you could need to prepare a delicious meal, perhaps using some of the wonderful produce from the local area. Doors from the kitchen lead out to the courtyard, with a pretty cherry blossom tree, a real highlight of the home and a lovely place for drinks in the late afternoon sun.

The three bedrooms and bathroom are all upstairs. On the top floor is the master bedroom, with a vaulted ceiling and exposed wooden beams providing rustic vibes and a comfy double bed and freestanding copper bathtub for ultimate relaxation after a long day. An additional double bedroom (with ensuite shower room) can be found on the first floor, along with a double bunk room which is ideal for kids. Crisp linen, fluffy towels and premium toiletries are also provided, just remember to bring your own beach towels.

The house couldn’t be better located as a base to explore Kingsand and its twin village Cawsand. Kingsand beach - just a short stroll down the road from the property – is popular for swimming, boating and rock pooling, and is lined with places to eat and drink. There are several other excellent beaches within easy reach, where the adventurous can try out surfing, paddle boarding and other water sports. If you’re after something slightly slower-paced, Kingsland sits on the Rame Peninsula (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) which is renowned for walking and birdwatching.
