Head to a quiet corner of the Lake District at Wallthwaite Farmhouse, a period house brimming with character. Located in a tiny hamlet and with views across to the stunning Blencathra, this really is the perfect escape from the stress of daily life.
The large cottage sleeps up to 12 people across six spacious bedrooms. The whole place is full of traditional details, from the exposed beams, to the ornate open fireplaces, and rustic wood panelling. Guests enter through a large studded wooden door onto the ground floor, where from the porch they will discover the large kitchen, which is well equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, large range style oven, and big fridge freezer. There is also a huge dining table where you can enjoy big meals together with friends and family as the under-floor heating keeps you toasty and warm.
There are two living rooms on offer ensuring large groups are very well catered for. Both have comfy sofas situated around cosy open fires and with televisions, meaning you can all gather round for a movie and a quiet night in. Also on this level is the first of the bedrooms, which is a twin room than can be converted in a super king upon request, as well as a utility room for storage, and a washer and dryer in the garage.
Going up one of the two staircases takes you to the first floor, where there are five bedrooms, each with fantastic views across the garden and beyond. Gaze out and see farm buildings, and scenic rolling hills. There are two twin bedrooms, one of which can be made into a super king if required, a double bedroom, and two king size rooms. One of these king size bedrooms comes with its own en suite, while the family bathroom has a nice big roll top bath and a separate shower. To ensure larger groups are catered for there's also a further shower room with a walk-in shower.
Outside there is a large lawn, play equipment, and garden furniture to ensure fun can be had whatever the weather. From here guests can explore the hundreds of walking and bike trails right on their doorstep, to the foot of Blencathra and Souther Fell, or the higher fells of Skiddaw and Helvellyn ranges. The shores of the Ullswater and Derwentwater lakes are within eight miles, while town life can be experienced at nearby Keswick and Penrith.
