Tudor Rose is a picture perfect English country cottage with a timeless feel and plenty of modern luxury amenities. It would be ideal for a romantic getaway for two or friends wanting to relax in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
You'll arrive to find a gorgeous traditional 17th century cob and thatch cottage nestled in the pretty little village of Stourpaine. The front door opens into a delightful, spacious but cosy lounge. Painted in soft colours with seagrass floors, it is immediately welcoming. Snuggle up on the plush velvet sofa with a glass of wine and switch on the fabulous flame-effect electric stove (much like a wood burner but without the work) and settle in for a movie night on the smart TV. Alternatively you might like to pop some music on the Roberts bluetooth speaker and spend some time relaxing whilst dinner is prepared.
The kitchen is a lovely space where the morning sunshine streams through the windows. Newly equipped with everything you could need to prepare a feast for two – you might like to take advantage of some wonderful local produce from one of many farm shops in the area! There's also a Nespresso coffee machine for that all important eye opener and the hosts have thoughtfully included a slimline dishwasher.
When it's time to eat you can make your way through to the panelled dining room and relax at the four seater dining table, maybe mix a cocktail on the sideboard or pour your wine into the cut glass decanter – just one of the many quirky and charming antiques dotted about the place. The cabinet is home to the table ware, cooking equipment and plenty of books, puzzles and board games should the mood take you.
If the weather is agreeable throw open the French doors and enjoy your supper at the bistro table in the pretty south-facing courtyard garden. Grab a bottle of fizz and watch day become night. The courtyard is also an excellent spot for breakfast and is completely enclosed and private so feel free to relax in your robes!
When it's time for bed, climb up the original wooden staircase to your luxurious bedroom with king size bed bedecked in handmade linens by Button & Sprung. There's an antique chest and two in-built wardrobes where you can pop all your clothes. There's an additional room with a single iron bed should you need it, and if not, it makes an excellent little work station complete with antique bureau. Before bed, the lovely bathroom features a luxury roll top bath, which is ideal for long relaxing soaks, and a separate shower for added convenience.
Outside you'll find a quintessential village with pretty houses and walks to enjoy. A quiet lane from Tudor Rose leads to the North Dorset Trailway, which extends up to 14 miles. It's a great place to stroll, run or cycle and offers some lovely views over the river Stour. Stop at the the old railway station at Shillingtone for coffee and a slice of cake or visit Fiddleford Manor and pop in for a drink at the Fiddleford Inn. There's also great village pub a short stroll from the cottage where you can enjoy a post stroll pint!
Further afield you'll find all that Dorset has to offer, from sweeping sandy beaches, Durdle Door and the famous Jurassic Coast – there's something for everyone. For foodies there are many fabulous pubs and country inns, some world famous seafood and food festivals to discover. You'll find an information folder in the cottage which includes plenty of recommendations.
