The Details...

In the heart of Scotland’s celebrated Cairngorms National Park, set in two and a half acres of private gardens is The Wilds, a two-storey stone and timber self catering holiday house packed with high-end amenities. A delight to stay in throughout the year, The Wilds is the perfect spot for larger groups of friends and family offering a base from which to explore the national park that sits right on their doorstep.

In spacious grounds which feature a private hill, forest, and stream, as well as manmade delights such as a wooden climbing frame and an eight person hot tub, The Wilds is a real treat for those looking to spend time in the unspoiled, rugged beauty of the highlands. On the ground floor, timber, local stone, and glass have been utilised to create a warm, open space which is ideal for multiple generations to congregate after a long day of hiking. With expansive views through the French doors, double height ceilings, and a built in stone fireplace, this is the property’s hub.

Also on this floor is the kitchen, a great space with breakfast island and amenities which will impress even the most ambitious cooks. From here, pass into into the airy sun lounge, a glassy room which guests tend to use for planning their day during a large breakfast. There are also four bedrooms on this floor; two superking sized bedrooms (one en-suite), which can be converted to twin singles, a room with two sets of bunk beds, and a family room with a superking-sized bed and full size bunks around the corner. This room also benefits from its own en suite bathroom. Upstairs, up to five more people can sleep in a room with a double bed and smaller single in an alcove, and another convertible superking/twin single bed, both en-suite.

Regardless of the makeup of your group, The Wilds is bound to offer something to suit everyone. For those who rise at dawn with an ambitious day of adventure ahead, the proximity to the staggeringly gorgeous national park will be a gamechanger, as well the washer-dryer, allowing them to be hike-ready regardless of the weather.

For those who enjoy a more leisurely break, the endless nooks, spaces, and inside and outdoors treats, from the firepit to the comfy freestanding bathtub, will guarantee a restorative and luxurious break. Despite the privacy afforded by the grounds, The Wilds is conveniently close to holiday amenities, with Kingussie and Aviemore both under fifteen minutes away. Whether you’re into highland distilleries with guided tours, Jacobite history, water sports, nature retreats, fine dining or even dry slope skiing, you’ll be delighted to find your preferred activity is under a ten-minute drive away.
