The Detail...
Sitting in the heart of the historic market town of Lewes, is The Victorian House. This 19th Century townhouse benefits not only from a fantastic location in one of Sussex's most culturally rich towns, but is also meticulously decorated to the highest of standards. Sleeping a maximum of eight guests, The Victorian House offers guests a homely stay in which to relax and enjoy the laid back, culturally rich town of Lewes. Should you wish to get out and about, then it is also a fantastic base for those wishing to explore all that East Sussex has to offer. Whether you are planning a friend's getaway, or a relaxing family retreat, The Victorian House covers all bases. Oh, and did we mention that there is a cat?
The interior of the house is a healthy mix of the traditional and the modern, but primarily it is the contemporary theme and airy Scandinavian palette that will strike guests. The house is comprised of three floors: on the first floor are two bedrooms and one bathroom. The ground floor is made up of the main entrance, the sitting room, and the fully equipped kitchen/dining room - along with a door which leads down some steps to the garden. The lower ground floor houses two further bedrooms, a bathroom, and a utility room. This is where Scout, the cat, likes to make an appearance.
Lewes, the country town of East Sussex, is a charming market town with a rich history and its fair share of landmarks. These include - but aren't limited to - Lewes Castle, Lewes Priory, Bull House (the former home of Thomas Paine), and Southover Grange and public gardens. The town is also home to a variety of traditional pubs and acclaimed eateries. Just a few miles to the southwest is the seaside city of Brighton, with trains running regularly. Brighton is popular destination for tourists, renowned for its diverse communities, quirky shopping areas, large and vibrant cultural, music and arts scene, and its thriving nightlife. There is never a dull moment in this hip city. The South Downs National Park is also a short drive away and offers stunning vistas and some of the most beautiful walking trails in the south of England. London is less than an hour north on the train.
