The detail

This 15th century house boasts a multitude of traditional features, from flag stone floors and lattice windows to exposed beams, an Inglenook fireplace, and oak panelled walls. The property has been sympathetically furnished throughout to enhance the historical character of the property without compromising style or comfort.

Entering The Tryst you will be instantly struck by the character and atmosphere of this property, the cosy living room boasts a huge Inglenook fireplace and two large sofas. Thick rugs cover the flag stone floor, walls are panelled and solid oak beams run through the room.

Through to the kitchen, which is served by a working Aga stove and is wonderful for slow-cooking roasts, which overlooks the pretty knot garden. A traditional farmhouse kitchen table will make long, leisurely breakfasts a must.

Step out into the sunny walled garden for al fresco dining or a mid-morning coffee, or enjoy an aperitif before moving back inside for supper. The stunning dining room has a wonderful atmosphere for more formal dining and will make any evening truly memorable. Decorated in deep burgundy and furnished with traditional heavy oak furniture, the dining room has been designed stylishly and in keeping with the history of the house.

And then to bed, a convenient ground floor single bedroom, The Indian Room, lies through double oak doors and has doors leading directly out into the stunning garden. It has a single bed but a truckle bed can also be used. Next door is a 'wet room', enjoy a warm shower before wrapping yourself in one of the large fluffly, cotton towels.

Up the winding stairs, past the exposed brick chimney breast, and you find two further bedrooms, the Gold Room, which is the master, and the French Room. The Gold Room is a fabulous space, with a 21 arm brass chandelier which swings from the high rafters, pretty floral patterned curtains frame the window and a vase of dried flowers sit in the exposed fireplace. A large thick rug and antique pine furniture really add the finishing touches to this delightful room. The French Room is equally as atmospheric and boasts windows on three aspects, letting in an abundance of light. It is decorated in a chic French style and is full of charm.

There is a further bathroom upstairs which features a roll top bath. As charming and traditional as the house is, the owners have worked hard to ensure guests can still enjoy all the modern conveniences, there is wireless Broadband, television with Freeview and Netflix, and the property is centrally heated with underfloor heating.

Lavenham was once one of England's wealthiest towns. It is surrounded by fabulous countryside, which inspired Constable to create his most famous paintings. The town has excellent options for foodies including The Great House and The Swan Hotel.
