The detail

Set in a region of the Highlands celebrated for its distilleries and staggering views of the hilly landscapes, The Tabernacle is a former chapel, since lovingly renovated into a unique self-catering holiday space for up two four guests. Boasting high end amenities, vaulted ceilings, and extraordinary vistas over Perth and Kinross, The Tabernacle is the perfect option for families, pairs of couples, and any other combination of holidaymakers looking to spend time in the highlands in serious style and comfort.

With high ceilings and tall windows, everything about The Tabernacle feels lofty, airy and light. The master bedroom is set in a mezzanine which overlooks the main, open plan chapel space, while the second bedroom, with its boxed bunk beds, perfect for adults or children, is set in one of the old vestries. The second vestry houses one of the Tabernacle’s stand-out design features, a two-person cast iron roll-top bath tub, the perfect spot to take a lengthy soak after a long day of hiking, distillery sampling, and generally exploring the Highlands.

The main living space of the chapel has scarcely been altered, allowing the original architecture to speak for itself. A few judicious touches have been added to convert this former worshipping space to a high-ceilinged kitchen, living and dining room which the whole family can enjoy. Whatever the weather and in all four seasons, simply sitting on one of the super-comfortable sofas and watching the clouds roll across the Tay valley is the ultimate de-stressing activity. Alternatively, step out of the chapel and onto the decking outside, climb into the hot tub and gaze out across uninterrupted greenery, rolling topography and beautiful Scottish skies.

The property is perfectly located at the end of a long drive, at the top of a hamlet, meaning that nothing comes between you and the vistas of the Tay Valley. This area of the Perth and Kinross is host to a number of award winning distilleries, making it a whiskey-lover’s paradise. A number of brilliant hiking trails lead almost right from your front door, accommodating both experienced walkers looking for a challenge, and those whose ideal holiday activity is a more gentle stroll. Whether your perfect day involves lengthy cycling trials, whiskey tasting, or a rural pub with a great atmosphere, roaring fire, and a wide selection of single malts, local ales, and hearty pub fare, The Tabernacle is within easy reach of whatever pleases you.
