Once the stables for a Victorian dairy farm, this unique property has been transformed into a stunning holiday home, located in the heart of the Cornish countryside. Comfortably sleeping up to six guests, the cottage makes a wonderful rural retreat for families or groups of friends and is perfectly located to discover some of the South West’s finest beaches. After days at the seaside, guests can return to The Stables and relax in their own private hot tub, taking in the gorgeous views of the peaceful surroundings. To make your stay even more special, you’ll be provided with a welcome hamper full of locally sourced produce on arrival.
The cottage exterior oozes rustic charm and character, with original features like the stable door and exposed brickwork retained. Inside though, it has been beautifully renovated and includes all the modern comforts you could wish for. Guests enter into the open plan living, kitchen and dining area. This bright and airy room has plenty of space to relax and socialise, with comfy sofas placed around a widescreen TV and a cosy log burner. The kitchen is well equipped with everything needed to cook up a storm, and meals can be shared around the dining table.
The home sleeps six in three spacious bedrooms, one master bedroom with a king size bed and ensuite shower room and two rooms with zip-link beds that can be set up as twins or super kings. All bedrooms are fitted with luxurious Egyptian cotton bed linen and feather duvets to ensure a sound night’s sleep for all guests. There’s also a family bathroom where towels, bathrobes and toiletries are provided. The cottage is warmed by eco-friendly underfloor heating.
Outside is an enclosed garden, a real highlight of the property. It’s a lovely spot for spending sunny afternoons with a barbecue or evenings sitting around the fire pit gazing at the starry sky – it’s also where you’ll find the woodfired hot tub. The 26-acre farm includes 11 fields of lush pasture and wildflower meadows. Many of these can be enjoyed by guests, including secure fields to walk dogs, a football pitch to keep kids occupied and a picnic field with fantastic views.
The farm lies in a unique location, equally distanced between Cornwall’s north and south coasts, offering excellent access to the wonderful beaches at both. These include the famous Gylly Beach, Portreath beach (a well-kept local secret) and the idyllic sandy shores at Gwithian, all of which have cafes for refreshments and offer the chance to try various water sports.
The nearest village is Stithians, a mile away by road or an enjoyable half hour walk via scenic footpaths through the country. It has a popular pub and various shops stocked up with local goods and holiday essentials. Stithians Reservoir is less than a mile west of the village, boasting a water sports centre and an array of trails to explore.
