The detail

The Rapids Cottage lies deep within the woodland of the Symonds Yat Valley. The cosy cottage is perfect for those looking to switch off and embrace the serenity of mother nature. Relax in the bubbling outdoor bath, whilst listening to the river rapids, the birdsong and the rustling of the trees. Breathe in the breathtaking views and embrace the tranquility that will wash over you at this Hygge inspired escape.

The superior scandi style interiors give the property plenty of character, whilst the array of activities nearby offer a wide range of things to do. There are plenty of walking and cycling trails right on the doorstep, each one leading you a new adventure close by. The activities are numerous, why not try your hand at watersports, fishing or horse riding? After your exertions at the end of a busy day you should enjoy some hearty pub grub at the local Inn and then sink into the family sized sofa amidst the warmth of the log burner. The perfect way to escape and forget about the trials and tribulations of daily life.

Built in 1850, Rapids Cottage is a home from home filled with rustic charm and equipped with all the essentials you could need for a relaxing getaway. The charming interiors are cosy and inviting, just perfect to sink into at the end of a busy day exploring. And the views can be devoured from the windows, should you not wish to brave the brisk outdoors on a cold day.

To the downstairs there is a lounge area with sumptuous sofa and warming log burner. The separate kitchen and dining area has everything you need for a peaceful night in. Upstairs Rapids Cottage boasts two gorgeously refurbished bedrooms, one king size and one adaptable king or twin room. The modern and sleek bathroom has a relaxing walk in shower, to ease the aches of the day’s adventures.

Enjoy your morning cup of tea, watching the mist arise from the river below on the outdoor decking area. Rapids Cottage houses the most enchanting festoon lit decking area that can be enjoyed in all seasons. With the highlight being a four person William Holland jetted bath. Simply fill like a bath, jump in and enjoy a chemical free dip in the most serene setting. Observe the famous pinnacle of Yat Rock, the ancient woodland that encircles the cottage and the local wildlife. Barbeques and al fresco dining can fill up summer evenings and cold winter dips in the bath while away long dark nights.

The Wye Valley AONB has many wonders just waiting to be explored. And you don’t even need to hop in your car when you are staying at Rapids Cottage. So many routes can be accessed right from the doorstep. With walking trails, cycling routes and the River Wye all within easy reach.

For those who enjoy outdoor pursuits, the famous Yat Rock is a popular location for climbing, or try some exhilarating canoeing or paddle boarding along the River Wye. Or for a more subtle adventure, relish in a gentle stroll through the ancient woodlands and then watch the world and its river users go by from one of the many inns and tea rooms. A 10 minute drive by car will find you in the historic town of Monmouth. With its iconic gatehouse bridge and famous past, it’s also renowned for its independent shops and foodie delights.
