The Details...

This beautiful two bedroom granite cottage has a vantage point that offers stunning panoramic views over the harbour and across Mounts Bay to the Lizard. The Welsh poet Dylan Thomas could well have written his famous line Mousehole is the loveliest village in England while gazing out from the Queach at the beautiful views of the village and harbour below. He stayed in Mousehole in the 1930s and wrote a letter from the cottage arranging lunch with TS Eliot in London on his return. A copy of this letter is proudly displayed by the desk.

The cottage itself has been lovingly restored to feel like a boutique hotel with an elegant interior that is both relaxed and stylish. After entering through the porch guests head into the spacious living room with flagstone floor and underfloor heating. The seating area is centred around the wood burning stove to ensure things remain cosy and warm whatever the weather. Both of the windows have built-in seats to sit and watch the world go by whilst taking in the views of St. Clements Isle to St. Michaels Mount in the distance.

For those who enjoy cooking, the kitchen is a real treat, with its polished concrete worktops, range cooker, and a bookcase filled with an array of cookery books. There is also a Smeg fridge/freezer, washing machine, and a double butler sink. At the other end of the room is the dining area with hand built, wrap-around bench seating.

Both bedrooms are found on the first floor. The main bedroom has exposed wooden beams, Moroccan ceiling lanterns, a king size bed, and a freestanding copper bath. This too has window seats which offer superb views from the front of the cottage out across the water. The peaceful second bedroom is located at the back of the property overlooking the lush gardens and has a zip bed that can either be king size or twins. There is also a bathroom on this level with walk-in rainforest shower, basin, WC, and heated towel rail.

As well as the pretty front garden, there is also landscaped terraced gardens at the rear at The Queach. These feature tropical and Mediterranean plants and make their way up to the top terrace, which looks over the rooftops of Mousehole and is perfect for lounging and having a barbecue.

The village itself dates back to the 12th Century and is surrounded on three sides by water. As such it is spoilt with beaches, while the old winding lanes lead to an array of restaurants, cafes, and pubs.
