Tucked amongst the medieval, cobbled streets of Rye, a short stroll from the sea, this characterful converted ambulance station is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the company of good friends and family.
Guests approach this characterful property via a wooden deck and through large garage-style doors, a leftover from the days when it housed ambulances, which pull wide open and take visitors into the sensational open plan living, dining and kitchen area.
At the centre of the room, is a beautiful woodturning fire large enough to keep this spacious area warm and cosy. It sits raised on a plinth which is stacked with plenty of logs to keep guests going through late-nights.
The decor is minimal and stylish, with lots of clean lines. Modern wooden floorboards are complimented by a metallic breakfast bar/food preparation area, walls are whitewashed and kitchen cupboard have push-open wooden doors. A large exposed bean runs across the ceiling enhancing the building's charm.
Beautiful soft furnishings give the area a welcoming and warm atmosphere, including an inviting corner sofa, big enough for all the guests, stylish rugs and original art work.
There is a small office area for those needing to keep up with correspondence and bookshelves filled with books for those who don't. A large, flat screen TV sits on the desk and provides entertainment for guests as they relax by the flickering flames of the wood burner.
Cooks will love the kitchen. Modern and minimalist it is filled everything needed to produce a fabulous meal created from the wonderful fresh produce available in the area, Romney Marsh lamb and Hastings crab. And meals can be enjoyed in the wonderful dining area, a solid wood table is surrounded by eight stylish chairs and a sensational modern candelabra provides atmospheric lighting for those memorable meals.
Also situated on the ground floor, in a spectacular modern extension, is a shower room and the first double bedroom. Then up the stairs, light pours in through the well-appointed modern windows and cuts a shadow on the exposed brick and wooden staircase. Going to bed will never have been quite such a fashionable moment. On the top floor, a twin bedroom, a further double and the master can be discovered. Guests can take in the fabulous views of pretty Rye and beyond.
The old station is situated in the heart of the town and in close proximity to the very old Mermaid Inn. Foodies will also love Webbe's at The Fish Cafe and the Union.
Camber sands is a short drive away and is famous for its miles of sandy coastline, birdlife and film maker Derek Jarman's magical beach house.
