The Detail...
Perched high on the cliffs of Cornwall, offering staggering views of the roiling and stunning sea below, Cobb Cottage is a dreamy holiday house, and the ideal getaway for couples, families and friends looking to experience the beauty, lifestyle and rich culture which Cornwall is famous for. Affiliated with the adjacent Lugger Hotel, but available to rent on an exclusively self-catered basis, Cobb Cottage is a perfect solution for groups who are drawn to the Cornish coast, the inspiration for countless artists and writers, and the perfect destination for young and old alike.
From the moment you step into Cobb Cottage you’ll know that you couldn’t be anywhere else but Cornwall; the jagged coastline with its blue and grey outcroppings and headlands, the granite-heavy architecture, and the cries of sea gulls overhead all create an impression which is unmistakably Cornish. The property offers three bedrooms; on the upper ground floor you’ll find an en-suite bedroom with twin beds, and sea views. Move upstairs, and you’ll find two more double bedrooms, both of which benefit from extraordinary views of the Cornish sea. One of these has a generous en-suite shower room, while the other comes with a full bathroom. The main living space is laid out with an open plan design, combining the well-appointed kitchen with dining room, living room and lounge. A sweeping, architecturally significant staircase draws you down to the garden and its panoramic vistas of the harbour.
Cornwall enjoys global renown for its iconic, pastoral beauty and arty history. Characterised by granite, gorse, butterflies and bays, it has a distinctive visual geography which draws holidaymakers back time and again. Foodies and seafood enthusiasts will be delighted by what’s on offer nearby, whether they peruse many of the fine local restaurants for Cornish sea bass, lobsters, crab, mackerel and pollock, or pick them up at the markets and fishmongers and prepare them at home themselves.
Cornwall enjoys a long association with the visual arts, and even the smallest towns and villages contain independent studios and small private galleries, tucked away among hidden cobbled lanes. Visit the Tate gallery at St Ives, and the associate Barbara Hepworth House and Gardens. The nearby Minnack Theatre is unmissable, so be sure to look into the program during your stay. For those who enjoy a more active time away, choose from sailing, fishing, sea-kayaking or climbing, while the option to strike out along the coastal path, ending up with a pint of a St Austell’s ale and a crab sandwich is also appealing.
