Kelfield, North Yorkshire
Indulge in luxury at the Hay Barn, a converted farm building in the peaceful Yorkshire village of Kelfield that combines original features with modern style.
Guests can rest and recuperate in style, at this luxurious barn conversion that sits in the charming Yorkshire village of Kelfield. This lovely barn has an ideal combination of rustic original features and modern style. The Dovecote Barns complex where the holiday home sits has lovingly restored the previously redundant farm into a first class escape.
The property is designed in an upside down effect, with the three en-suite bedrooms found on the ground floor. Complete with luxurious John Lewis mattresses, two of the bedrooms can either be set out as doubles or twins to ensure flexibility and both have wet room en-suite bathrooms. The third bedroom boasts a king size bed while the en-suite has a bath with overhead shower.
Heading upstairs leads to the open-plan living room on the first floor with its log fire stove and stunning views across the landscaped garden and over the surrounding countryside. Also on this level is a large oak dining table seating up to 12 guests. While Hay Barn sleeps six itself, the three holiday homes on site can be booked for large groups with this acting as the social hub. The fully equipped kitchen has an oven and hob, microwave, and American-style Smeg fridge/freezer. Guests will also be greeted by a welcome basket with wine, homemade bread, and locally sourced breakfast ingredients.
The bedrooms have French doors that can be thrown open so guests can head outside to enjoy an alfresco breakfast or utilise the barbecue in the spacious garden with outdoor seating. Dovecote Barns are committed to biodiversity and there is an eco laundry room and car charging electrical station which guests are welcome to use.
The peace and tranquility makes Hay Barn seem wonderfully remote, but it is actually only 10 miles from the historic city of York. This culturally rich location is famed for its architecture, with many of its Viking and Roman sites still preserved. There is plenty to keep history buffs entertained, from York Minster, to the Jorvik Viking Centre, to the National Railway Museum. Then visit the many bars and cafes by the River Ouse, or take a cruise along the waters.
The barn is fully equipped to dine a group of up to 12 adults.
