This beautifully converted double shipping container, nestled in its own quiet haven, uses the space very cleverly. It provides everything you could need for a comfortable stay without being cramped and the wooden walls and floor give it an unexpected rustic charm that suits the location perfectly. Hambleton Hut would be ideal for a couple with two young children or a group of friends who don't mind bunking in the same room.
Located on a family farm, nicely secluded and right by a lovely walk in the woods, this new holiday home will impress you with its modern amenities. Despite being entirely off grid the hosts have provided all the amenities you could need for a happy and cosy stay on the banks of Rutland Water.
On arrival you'll find a neat building in the middle of a field, clad in wood. The front features French doors and several windows allowing light to flood the cosy interior. There's a raised patio running the length of the container where you can sit at the four seater table in the sunshine and begin your holiday with a glass of something lovely and a pretty view.
The interior has been simply designed to make the most of the space with a kitchen area and breakfast bar at and four funky orange bar stools where you can enjoy your morning coffee together. There's also a slimline fridge and a two ring gas stove – being off grid the gas is provided in bottles and there's an on stove kettle for those all important cups of tea.
The centre of the space is home to a comfy sofa with views of the fields outside and there's a log burner to keep you nice and toasty in the evenings as you sip your wine and enjoy each others' company.
When it's time for bed you'll find a separate room at the far end with a large and comfortable double bed and a bunk with two single beds. These fit the space neatly and provide everything you'll need for a deep and peaceful night's sleep in the country.
In the morning make your way back to the kitchen end of the cabin where you'll find a sliding wooden door that leads into a delightfully spacious modern bathroom. The rainfall shower is large and there's plenty of hot water. Despite being off-grid the container has solar panels and the hosts have provided USB ports for all your charging needs.
You could make some breakfast in the kitchen, which comes equipped with everything you could need to whip up some eggs and toast or, if it's a lovely sunny day, you might like to take your coffee out on to the terrace and throw some sausages on the BBQ. An alfresco breakfast is a wonderful start to the day.
When it's time to explore, the hosts invite you to stroll through their private wood and enjoy the sounds of nature. The walk will take you to the banks of Rutland Water where you can enjoy the view and hire a boat if you fancy a bob on the water. This is also a great area for fishing and if you want something a bit more strenuous there's an assault course water park – excellent for kids and adults alike!
From there it's a short amble to the fabulous village pub, The Finches Arms. Enjoy a pint with the friendly locals and stay for some lunch. If you are in the mood for some fine dining you might like to book a table at the Michelin starred restaurant Hambleton Hall. Treat yourself to some truly wonderful food and wine before returning to your private little idyll on the farm where you can light the fire pit, wrap a blanket around yourself and sit gazing at the stars with perhaps just one more bed time drink.
