  The Detail...

In the visually stunning and characterful Akeld region of Northumberland, the Guards Van is a fascinating former train carriage, since painstakingly converted into a one of a kind living space, available to rent on a self-catering basis. Cleverly renovated in a manner which celebrates the spaces former life as a carriage while packing the interior with the high-tech luxuries which make for a decadent time away, The Guards Van is the perfect escape for couples or friends looking to spend time in some of the loveliest scenery of the Northeast.

Pleasing design is at the heart of The Guards Van, and youll be astonished to see what has been packed into this space, without creating a sense of discomfort or crowdedness. The sleek, fitted kitchen comes with a full oven and microwave, as well as fridge to keep meat and beer cold, and plumbed in sink. Theres an ice box for your gin and tonic! As far as entertainment is concerned, you have the option of reclining in front of the DVD enabled television, taking advantage of the WiFi, or making use of the Bluetooth enabled speakers.

Outside, you have you own green space to enjoy the long Northumberland evenings, either sat around the grill as you wait for your al-fresco evening meal to cook, or from the comfort of your private hot tub.

Every day at The Guards Van follows its own rhythms, without the pressures and demands of urban life. You can enjoy a breakfast made up from items you received on arrival as part of your hamper. Over freshly ground coffee, pastries, or eggs from the local thirteen-year-old hen farmer, plan your day as you look out over your own patch of heaven. Spend the day pottering around the local area, or venture to some of the many attractions and settlements within easy reach. After a long day of exploring the jewel of the Northeast, head back to your unique former train carriage for a lengthy soak, glass of wine, and maybe a even a little grilling.

The coast is just a short drive away meaning you are just a quick trip away from some lovely seaside days out. Alnwick is also accessible via a thirty minute drive, and there are also a variety of wonderful family-friendly walks and nature reserves right on your doorstep. All of these nearby attractions make The Guard's Van a perfect destination from which to explore Northumberland.
