Aboyne , Aberdeenshire
Charming and comfortable, The Coo Hoose has all you could want on its doorstep, and gives you a beautiful garden, luxurious bedrooms and a cosy lounge to curl up in
Please note that the minimum stay for this property is 5 nights
Sitting on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park, around 30 miles west of Aberdeen, The Coo Hoose is a wonderfully inviting place to take a break. This tasteful, open plan house can accommodate up to four adults, plus a small child or two, and has the pretty village of Aboyne close by.
Inside, you’ll find a well-appointed kitchen with Neff oven, a washing machine and dishwasher, and nice extras like a wine cooler. There’s a breakfast bar, and a more formal dining area in the main living space, with a beautiful view and eye-catching designer chairs around the oak dining table.
Large, chunky sofas create a relaxing space around the wood-burning stove, and you have Sky TV and plenty of DVDs to choose from for a cosy evening in. The understated style continues in the two bedrooms, one with twin beds, and the other featuring a king-size bed and decadent roll-top bath right there in the room, so bathtime can merge into bedtime seamlessly.
There’s a contemporary bathroom with a large, walk-in shower, cool tiling and high-quality accessories. Underfloor heating keeps the whole place cosy, and logs for the stove are provided, so you can enjoy The Coo Hoose to the full in even the coldest of months.
In addition, you have a large, secluded garden with forest views, a lovely outdoor dining area with teak table and chairs, a wicker sofa and sun loungers. Another useful extra is the off-street parking for two cars.
In Aboyne, there are shops and some great places to eat, including The Boat Inn, just ten minutes away. The stunning scenery of the local area is reason enough to get out and about, and provides the perfect setting for some serious walking. You’ll also find numerous golf courses, including two in Aboyne itself, and skiing at The Lecht and Glenshee within an hour’s drive.
Cycling, horse-riding and salmon fishing on the River Dee will all keep you active, but if you prefer a bit of heritage, head to one of the many castles or stately homes, or perhaps to Aberdeen – you can get there in around 50 minutes.
