Moored in the heart of London’s bustling city centre, The Big Red Houseboat sits in an oasis of calm. Set on the tranquil waters of Regent’s Canal and with its own little outdoor space surrounded by trees, it’s hard to believe this is London at all.
The bright and spacious wheelhouse has windows on all sides, offering panoramic views of the canal. This is the perfect spot to enjoy breakfast while watching the wildlife in the canal and on the banks. Spend a lazy afternoon stretched out on the sofa with a book or watch the sun go down with a drink in the evening. Step down into the airy living room which has a wonderful sense of space thanks to the big windows and the white walls and ceiling. There are two comfy sofas, one of which can be converted into a double bed and a wood-burning stove to keep you cosy whatever the weather outside. To one end of this living space, you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen with a double oven, fridge-freezer, microwave and coffee machine. There’s even a washing machine and tumble dryer.
You’ll find the bedroom at the front of The Big Red Houseboat with access to an outside seating area. This room has space for three, with a double bed and a sofa which can be used as a comfy single bed. There are two bathrooms on board, both with showers and chemical toilets.
Back on land, you’ll find a private little outdoor space with seating and a BBQ. There’s even a hammock strung from the surrounding trees. If you fancy exploring a little further along the canal, there is a charming little clinker-built rowboat for expeditions to Granary Square.
If you’re a city-dweller yourself, you might want to hide away from the hustle and bustle in this tranquil little hideaway. If you do want to explore this vibrant part of London, The Big Red Houseboat is surrounded by many exciting attractions and dozens of fantastic places to eat. You can follow the canal’s towpath up to Granary Square to find many pubs and restaurants and then along to Camden Market with its eclectic collection of shops and stalls. Head in the other direction and explore Brick Lane and Spitalfields Market or take a stroll through Columbia Road Flower Market on a Sunday. You can quickly hop on a tube as you’re just minutes from King’s Cross station so the whole city is within easy reach.
