Swallows Rest is a luxury cottage located in rural Northumberland that sleeps six. From its rustic exterior to the modern, chic decor that the property is finished with, no expense has been spared in making this home into a cosy, welcoming hideaway in the rugged Northumberland hills.

The wood-burning stove, for instance, makes for a fantastic way to stay warm on winter's nights. Guests who are lucky enough to nab themselves the master suite will have the option of the property's opulent roll-top bath for warming up after a ramble. Swallows Rest is nicely placed between the Northumberland coast and some marvellous local countryside, you'll have lots of opportunities to venture out for a ramble or two, if you so choose.

The generous, floor-to-ceiling windows and skylights flood the space with natural light, giving the cottage a truly idyllic, airy atmosphere, especially on a warm summer's day.

The property is home to three bedrooms; one super-king master suite, accessed via the mezzanine, a king size double room on the ground floor and a twin room with two singles, also on the ground floor. In addition to the master suite's bathroom, Swallows Rest offers access to an additional WC and accessible wet room. Self-catering guests will love the property's generous, fully-equipped kitchen. Blending seamlessly with the open-plan living space, the kitchen is home to a convection hob, dishwasher, quality appliances and cookware.

Guests who prefer cooking alfresco can make use of the property's BBQ, which, when paired with the stunning views of the surrounding countryside, is a pretty incredible way to spend a summer evening. Alternatively, you may prefer to curl up on the external glass balcony upstairs, attached to the master suite, with a glass of wine and a book to enjoy the gentle breeze so typical of warmer months up north.

If you and your guests are interested in exploring Northumberland, then Swallows Rest is the perfect hub for doing so. The nearby town of Alnwick is home to the renowned 11th-century Alnwick Castle, which has been used as a location for filming scenes in both Downton Abbey and Harry Potter. Also located in Alnwick is Barter Books, the largest second-hand book retailer in the whole of the UK.

You may wish to explore the Northumberland Coast AONB, which is located just a short drive away from Swallows Rest. With gentle dunes, castles galore and some very striking sunsets, the Northumberland Coast makes for an excellent day trip at any time of year.
