Surrounded by spectacular natural beauty with a backdrop of rocky ridges and beautiful lochs, Stalker’s Lodge offers a peaceful escape for families. This architect-designed holiday home has a large glass-fronted extension with stunning views over fields and glens, providing an idyllic setting for a Highland adventure. The house is nestled within the Straloch estate south of the Cairngorms National Park and surrounded by 3,000 acres. You’ll find rugged mountains and heather covered hills in one direction and enchanting woodland and rolling fields in the other, making this a haven for nature lovers.
On the ground floor of Stalker’s Lodge, you’ll find an open-plan living space that feels both contemporary and relaxed with white walls, oak floors and designer fabrics and furniture. The stylish kitchen is fully equipped with everything you’ll need to whip up big dinners after long walks in the Cairngorms, featuring an island hob and plenty of space for everyone to help with the cooking. The dining and living area has been designed with entertaining in mind with a large dining table and a big comfy sofa to sink into in the evenings in front of a movie on the TV.
The house has been designed with its surroundings in mind with the huge windows in the double-height extension offering spectacular views. Whatever the weather, you can snuggle up in front of the wood-burning stove and soak up the scenery. During the warmer months, open up the sliding doors onto the patio or the deck at the front and relax in the sunshine with lunch sizzling away on the BBQ. The garden is securely fenced and there’s a playframe for the kids as well as a pool table, dart board and table tennis table in the shared games room.
You’ll find three spacious bedrooms on the first floor of the house, all equipped with luxurious Hypnos beds, crisp white linen and feather duvets. All of the rooms can be made up as doubles or singles, offering plenty of flexibility for families or groups of friends. The main bedroom has an ensuite and there’s a family bathroom for the other two rooms, both with underfloor heating, toiletries from the Highland Soap Company and thick, fluffy towels. The house is warm and cosy throughout the year thanks to the eco-friendly biomass boiler that runs on waste timber from the estate.
There’s plenty to do on Straloch estate itself, from long walks discovering the local flora and fauna to fishing on the loch or a game of tennis. The kids can build dens in the woods and collect eggs for breakfast from the hen house in the walled garden. You can explore the loch in one of the estate’s kayaks or rowing boat and even stop off at the island for a campfire tea. If you want to venture a little further afield, it’s just 15 minutes in the car to Pitlochry, a hub for all sorts of activities. Loch Ness, Aviemore and Royal Deeside are all within reach for day trips and Glenshee Ski Centre is only a 40-minute drive away.
