The Details...

Nestled in this pretty corner of the inspirational Peak District, the Smithyfields Shepherd's Huts offer guests a relaxing and restful stay on an adults-only campsite overlooking the lovely Dovedale Valley.

The site is perfectly situated, and is just a short walk from the attractive village of Alstonefield, which boasts a popular gastro-pub The George. However, the site itself offers everything you need to just stay put, sit back, relax and enjoy the pretty surroundings.

These quaint wooden huts make a charming place to enjoy your stay in comfort and are surrounded by nature making them ideal for those who enjoy camping but love their comforts too. Each hut has a full-size double bed dressed with fresh, crisp linens - cosy and comfy for a great night's sleep.

The well-equipped kitchen area features a cooker, fridge and sink - perfect for putting together cooked breakfasts to enjoy at leisure in your own private garden area. The gardens are surrounded by traditional dry stone walls and offer views of the nearby village. Take your time and enjoy your surroundings, whatever the time of day.

Each hut has a log burner, keeping guests cosy whatever the weather, and there is even a television and WiFi for night's in. Toilets and hot showers are located just 50 yards from the Shepherd's Huts.

Lovers of the great outdoors can enjoy the green pastures and fine views by taking to some of the many walking and cycling trails which can be accessed just minutes away from the site. Or while-away the days exploring the nearby market towns of Ashbourne, Buxton and Matlock, well-known for their popular antique and vintage shopping. Don't forget to sample some of the local specialities including the irresistible Bakewell Tart and fabulous Sage Derby and Dovedale cheeses. Spend the morning browsing the markets, buying local produce for a picnic at one of the local beauty spots or in the spectacular Capability Brown-designed gardens of the breathtaking Chatsworth House.

The pretty River Dove is only five minute walk away, so wander down Gypsy Bank with a bottle of wine for a sundowner by the river watching the river float on by.
