This traditional fisherman’s cottage has been brought up-to-date with a stunningly designed, contemporary extension, built to make the most of the breath taking views across Caledonian Canal to Beauly Firth and beyond. With a perfectly positioned floor-to-ceiling window in the living area and a covered, glass-fronted balcony, stays at Sealock Cottage centre around the jaw dropping water vistas, making this characterful home a great choice for a relaxing getaway with family or friends.
Walking into the unique property, you’ll discover a light and airy space, tastefully decorated to the highest of standards with impeccable attention to detail. The heart of the home is the open-plan living area which takes up the entire first floor. This sociable space has a lounge area with enough comfy seating for everyone to enjoy, a dining area with a huge picture window overlooking the waterway and a fully equipped kitchen complete with breakfast bar.
A glass door from the dining area leads you out onto the fabulous covered balcony, which is glass-fronted to offer uninterrupted views across the canal to the sea lock, from which the cottage gets its name. This peaceful outdoor oasis is the perfect place to sit and watch the pleasure crafts sail by, catch up on some holiday reading or sip your favourite tipple as the sun goes down. Decked out with cushioned, rattan sofas and outdoor lighting, you can enjoy this alfresco space whatever the weather or time of day.
When bedtime beckons, head down to the ground floor where you’ll find the three comfortable bedrooms. Two are king size with hotel-style ensuites and the third is a twin. There’s also a family bathroom, with a freestanding bath and a handy utility room, with a washing machine, on this floor.
Sealock cottage is located in the former fishing village of Clachnaharry on the outskirts of Inverness, which is a pleasant stroll away along the canal footpath. Considered the gateway to the Scottish Highlands, vibrant Inverness has a historic castle, award-winning restaurants and lively pubs. A few miles further afield you’ll find the legendary Loch Ness where you can enjoy a pleasure cruise while keeping your eyes peeled for the famous Loch Ness Monster!
