With spectacular coastal walks right on its doorstep and a deck where you can sit and gaze at breathtaking sea views, Sanderling is the perfect romantic retreat. Great for couples or families looking to escape to the idyllic Solway Coast in southern Scotland, this lovingly renovated cottage is tucked away down a private track and sits above a quaint and pretty pebble beach. Despite being a wonderful rural cottage, with bags of old world charm, Sanderling is still full of modern amenities and cutting edge additions, which ensure your stay is as luxurious and comfy as possible.
In summer you can fire up the BBQ outside and soak in the sun, whilst the kids play on the luscious green garden. And come winter, curl up in the lounge by the fire with a book and a lovely glass of wine. There is one delightful double room, with a comfy king size bed, and a nice twin room that's perfect for kids. The bathroom is fitted with a luxurious double ended roll top bath, the perfect place to relax after a day’s walking, and a separate shower. The kitchen, with its beautiful cottage style design, has all the modern appliances allowing you to cook some marvellous local produce including a cooker, halogen hob, microwave, retro fridge freezer and a dishwasher. In the morning sit with a coffee in the conservatory and enjoy gorgeous coastal views before heading out to explore this rugged, breathtaking part of the country.
Located on the Solway Coast, which is a recognised Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Sanderling offers fantastic access to some splendid coastal hikes, wonderful woodland walks and other spots of stunning untouched countryside. One particularly fab route is the cliff walk from Rockliffe to Sandyhills, which passes right by the cottage. As well as walking, you can also make the most of horse riding and mountain biking nearby as well as visiting some tremendous birdwatching locations. If you wish to venture further afield then the cottage can be used as a base to explore Dumfries and Galloway.

As soon as I saw Sanderling I fell in love with the unique location and gorgeous, coastal inspired interiors. It did not disappoint. My collie and I had a wonderfully relaxing stay: a chance to chill and recharge the batteries. Linda's taste, style and attention to detail made our stay special, we felt welcome and appreciated from the first communication to our departure. The extra little touches take Sanderling above the run-of-the-mill holiday cottage, they make it feel like home. Whether it was striding out along the coastal path just minutes from the door, relaxing in the conservatory watching the wildlife, taking a leisurely soak in the luxury roll top bath, or taking a short stroll down to the beach, it was just perfect. We didn't want to leave. Thank-you for a lovely stay. We will be booking again soon.
