In a picture perfect meadow, where butterflies flutter amongst the tall wild grass, sit these pretty wooden pods with their curved roofs and timber structures blending beautifully with the surrounding fields and woodland. Both pods are positioned in a four-acre meadow and both have their own private, fenced gardens within that meadow with picnic tables and relaxing sun loungers. So, pick up that book, pour a drink, lie back and enjoy the peace and tranquility of this truly special spot.
The pods, aptly named Woodpecker and Bumblebee, are spaced a good distance from each other, so guests can enjoy uninterrupted privacy. A wonderful raised wooden deck, with rope fences for safety, takes guests to the entrance of the pod. It has two comfy outdoor chairs to chill out on, making it the perfect place to enjoy a quiet late night drink. Stare at the starlit sky, listen out for the hoot of the owl and reflect on the day. And when it's time to head indoors, the interior is splendid. Cosy, stylish and well-equipped, it has everything guests could require from a luxurious glamping experience.
A smart elfin kitchen is great for making romantic dinners and lazy brunches. It has a combination oven/microwave and a fridge freezer, plus a storage area for stashing plenty of supplies. A pull out dining table is ideal for mealtimes indoors when the weather is less than appealing and underfloor heating ensures the pods are toasty warm. The welcoming vintage leather sofa sits by the doorway. It's an irresistible spot to enjoy morning coffee - fling open the door to let in the light and the wonderful views. At bedtime, pull-to the thick curtains which keep early morning sunshine out and chilly autumn breezes at bay. Snuggle down in the large double bed and enjoy a deep, restful sleep on the quality mattress and crisp cotton sheets. The pod also has its own shower room with lots of hot water, flushing toilet and heated towel rail - all the glamping essentials!
Guests might be forgiven for never leaving the mellowness of the meadow but there are plenty of lovely places to visit in Rutland, including the awesome Normanton Church. You're also 100 yards from the Rutland Round which is a very popular walking trail as well as 10 minute drive from Rutland Water. When its time to eat out, there are many lovely pubs and restaurants just a short drive away. The Lake Isle and Don Paddy's at Uppingham and The Old White Hart at Lyddington all come recommended.

Leave a reviewBrilliant! Perfect place to escape from it all in a fantastically comfortable and well equipped pod (we stayed in Bumblebee). Ideally located for Rutland Water, Stamford, and other great places to explore + some excellent pubs which serve delicious meals. The pods (Bumblebee & Woodpecker) are situated in a hidden location in the heart of Rutland. You feel as though you have the entire area to yourselves. The host (Clare) immediately made us feel as though we had arrived in a special place upon arrival. A BBQ sat by the fire pit under a starry night and full moon is a lasting memory. The pods and site are very canine friendly – especially by feeling so close to the nature all around you. Remember - It’s not just about the space inside- it’s also about the space outside. Would thoroughly recommend a stay.
