The Details...

In England's smallest town, the lovely Axbridge, tucked into the southern slopes of the Mendip Hills in Somerset, you'll find No 36 and the Roxy. Stylish and quirky, with contemporary art and fittings, as well as vintage and antique furnishings, the house accommodates at least nine people, although there is with space for more on a sofa bed, at a nominal charge. The house also incorporates the Roxy, a small cinema, which is available for some of the time during your stay.

In the spacious living room/kitchen you'll find plenty of comfy sofas for your group to sprawl, as well as a piano, TV, and a multi-functional table that converts to a very large dining table, a pool table, and even a table tennis table. Upstairs, are four double bedrooms and a single room, boasting an early American late 18th Century four poster bed, beautiful Cole & Son wallpaper and, of course, a hatbox collection! Rooms benefit from views of either the Mendips and the pretty garden, or the Somerset levels to Glastonbury Tor in the distance, plus quirky trinket cabinets, artwork, retro furniture and chic, vintage beds. Look out for a huge DVD library in one of the bedrooms, ready to go for the cinema!

There is also a spacious wet room, plus two bathrooms, a large, well-stocked library with over 4,000 books and a pretty garden, with space to dine outdoors. The library, living room and even bathroom have open fires. The cinema boasts high definition projection, choose a film from our library or bring your own DVDs or Blu Ray films to watch. It has a charming art deco foyer, original seats and fittings, and even a 1950's cocktail bar.

Super close is Cheddar gorge and caves, the seaside to the west or the beautiful city of Wells to the east, with its magnificent cathedral. You can also see Glastonbury Tor from the top of the house or the charming walled garden. Axbridge is lovely, with pubs, a tea house and even a tiny museum. For local, delicious food visit the farmer's market on the first Saturday of each month.

"A truly unique and magical place to stay. If you are looking for quirky charm, this is for you. We had a family weekend but could have easily stayed for the week. A private cinema, library, real fires, pool table and table tennis - you never have to leave the house. But if you do , stunning countryside, caves and charming Axbridge are on the doorstep. Can't wait to go back."
