Arriving at this characterful property, the red brickwork, huge paneled windows and generous front door will leave you in no doubt of its previous role as a village chapel. Nestled in the heart of historic New Buckenham, Norfolk, the authentic property has been sensitively converted to create a wonderfully light and airy hideaway for two.
Inspired by the idea of slow living, the simple but stylish décor creates a delightfully calming atmosphere, a far cry from the fast pace of everyday modern life.
Stepping through the front door of this open-plan accommodation, you’ll discover high ceilings, exposed rafters and white paintwork, which combine to create a welcoming feeling of space and calm. The huge windows flood the property with natural light, making the chapel bright and airy.
The spacious kitchen is well equipped with an oven, fridge, kettle, toaster, coffee machine and dishwasher, and a marble-topped breakfast bar provides the perfect setting for a lazy weekend breakfast. You’ll even find a complimentary selection of teas and coffees to enjoy during your stay.
Descending two steps to the cosy snug, you’ll discover a characterful, decorative brick fireplace, and a comfortable leather sofa and armchair. This peaceful hideaway is the perfect place to snuggle up and relax in, whether you want to read a book, watch a Netflix movie on the wall-mounted TV or simply sit and enjoy your calming surroundings.
From the living area, a staircase leads you up to the mezzanine level which has a comfortable king size bed with high quality bedding, plenty of storage space and a separate dressing area. Back downstairs, you’ll find the modern bathroom, stocked with toiletries from local, sustainable brand Norfolk Natural Living. This sleek space has an over-bath shower, WC and Belfast sink.
At the front of the property is a small patio area with a bistro-style table and chairs where you can enjoy a morning coffee or an evening aperitif while you sit and watch the world go by.
New Buckenham Chapel is in a convenient location at the centre of the village, just a two minute walk from the tranquil common, home to a variety of flora and wildlife, and close to the friendly, local pub. And if you want a dose of history, you can explore the ancient ruins of Norman Castle by requesting the key from the village shop. Beyond the village, Old Buckenham Country Park, with its coffee shop, bar and delicious street food, is just one-and-a-half miles away.
