Set on the outskirts of a family run farm in one of Britain's largest and most arresting National Parks, sits Merlin. This secluded cottage is ideal for those couples who love nothing more than getting away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Sitting on the fringe of the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, Merlin is a place where guests can lose themselves in the serenity of nature - it truly is a couples' retreat like no other. Offering undulating hillside vistas, a homely atmosphere and the perfect combination of rustic and contemporary décor, the magic of Merlin is easy to see.
A compact and cosy space for two, Merlin has been meticulously decorated by the owners so that guests have everything they'll need for the perfect stay. The surprisingly well-equipped kitchenette has all that's necessary for cooking up a storm. Meals can either be enjoying at the intimate table for two, or al fresco by the Love Pond. And for those chillier eves, feel free to fire up the chimenea. The king size bed is adorned in the finest linens, while the plush mattress promises the perfect night's sleep. A separate bathroom has a WC, basin and walk-in shower. And for after the shower, grab one of the comfy bath robes and relax with your favourite tipple.
Merlin sits on Nether Glenny, a family run cattle farm with a focus on cattle raising. In fact, your nearest neighbours will include some of the farm’s Highland cows. The farm is ideally positioned to explore Loch Lomond and The Trossachs, the fourth largest national park in the UK. Famed for its numerous lochs, mountains and arresting views, the park is perfect for nature-lovers and couples wanting a long and romantic walk in the unspoiled Scottish countryside. If you're missing urban life, then you won't be far from civilisation. The charming village of Aberfoyle is four miles from the farm, while the historic city of Stirling sits 20-miles to the west. Once the capital of Scotland, this medieval city is steeping in tradition. Places of interest include the Old Town, the famous Stirling Castle and the nearby Wallace Monument.

We had an amazing stay at Nether Glenny's Merlin. The cottage is situated on a working farm, lovingly tended by owners Alison & Matt and their 3 dogs, and has amazing views of Lake Menteith & the surrounding landscape. We arrived to have a very tasty home-cooked dinner (plus breakfast with fresh fruit from the farm!) and a cozy night by the outdoor fireplace. While quiet and peaceful, the studio is perfectly located to serve as a base for exploring the Trossachs, a bit snug but with all the amenities for a comfortable multi-day stay. Alison and Matt were great hosts and we would love to come back for a longer stay.
