Vineyards stretch towards the horizon, where rugged hills are silhouetted against blue skies and peaceful countryside blankets the area surrounding Masia Lagostea, a restored former winery just minutes away from the coast of the Costa Dorada.
Built in the 18th century, the house is distinctly Catalan in style- whitewashed with a terracotta tiled roof. Stand out features include the arched windows which look out over lush fields, and exposed stonework which gives the house its rustic feel. A swish pool area, bordered by ages-old walls makes a beautiful outdoor chill-out area. Test out your barbequing skills on the outdoor grill and after a pleasant meal relax under the stars on the comfortable patio furniture. Those with children will relish the idea of an onsite playground complete with tree house, for free, easy child entertainment.
If a spa day takes your fancy, look no further than the Jacuzzi and sauna situated in the courtyard- you’re just a hop, skip and a jump away from bubbly perfection (made even more perfect by a glass of the bubbly stuff in hand, some might say...).
Inside modern, stylish furniture mingles with traditional surroundings and unique features, such as the many artefacts from the house’s time as a winery. With five bedrooms, each en suite, large groups are able to enjoy as much space and freedom as they could wish for.
To top off an amazing stay, why not try some of the wine and olive oil that has been produced using the olives and grapes from the neighbouring field- you won’t find more local produce than that.
Masia Lagostea is within walking distance of the nearest town for supplies and eating out, however, for those that wish to venture further afield there are plenty of interesting places to visit. Start with Tarragona, home to several world heritage sites- of particular note is the roman amphitheatre and Monestir de Poblet- one of the world’s best preserved Cistercian monasteries. The walls that surround the town’s historic centre were built in the 3rd century BC, so you can get a real sense of history here. For thrills and adventure (partially) for the kids, head to Port Adventura, a theme park
