The detail

Explore Shakespearean England and the pretty Cotswolds from the luxury of this lovely duplex apartment. Little George is part of a Grade II listed building which has a stunning Tudor frontage with all its original features including exposed timbers, lattice lead windows and attractive bays.

The apartment is accessed from the rear and overlooks a quiet courtyard. Its interior is modern and stylish but there are plenty of reminders of the building's heritage, including the exposed beams running across the ceiling. The first floor is open plan in design, whilst high grade faux sisal carpets from The Unnatural Flooring Company lie underfoot and a neutral decor gives the space a calming and welcoming atmosphere.

Cooking never feels like a chore in the modern high-spec kitchen. Integrated appliances give a stylish, clean look and the composite stone work surface offers a sturdy foundation. The kitchen is positioned off the side of the living area and has a pretty window which overlooks the local churchyard. Enjoy meals at the wooden circle table before relaxing in the comfy sitting area, which is home to two matching sofas and a handsome oak coffee table. Grab a drink, put up your feet and make plans for the next exciting day.

When bedtime beckons, climb the handmade birch spiral staircase to the dual aspect double bedroom. Found at the top of the building, away from any street noise, the room fills with natural light in the morning, yet it's dark, quiet and cosy at night. Views look out over the church steeple and an oak suite, Egyptian cotton sheets and quality mattress offer a luxurious night's sleep.

The apartment has one beautiful bathroom. With a vaulted ceiling, exposed beams and an exquisite leaded window, guests can freshen-up for the day in the Porcelanosa rainfall shower while marvelling at the building's historic past.

Henley in Arden is now a major player on the Warwickshire tourism map with lots of things going on locally. Guests can climb The Mount in the town (the pre-Norman former site of Beaudesert Castle) and enjoy views of the surrounding countryside. The town still stages many historic spectacles including ‘Court Leet Day’ and has a popular annual Music Festival over August Bank Holiday.

A trip to Shakespeare country would not be complete without a visit to his hometown, the historic Stratford which is just a few miles away. Wander along the cobbled Tudor streets, browse the independent shops and enjoy lunch at one of the many Tudor taverns. A visit to the RSC is highly recommended where visitors get to see some of the world's greatest Shakespearian actors performing his plays. At the doorstep are lots of great places to grab food, and recommendations include breakfast at Henley Bakery and lunch at Dolce cafe, directly opposite to Little George.
