Sitting in a gorgeous period townhouse in the centre of the Scottish market town of Kelso, these properties overlook the historic Kelso Square. Guests will have the choice of two stays: Linen House or The Scott Apartment. Being directly adjoined, the smaller one-bedroom Scott Apartment can be rented separately or in conjunction with the four-bedroom Linen House. Showcasing a blend of traditional and modern aesthetics, and sleeping a maximum of 14 guests, this townhouse caters to all. Whether it is a family holiday, a friends' retreat, or a couple's romantic weekend, Linen House is sure to meet your needs.
Access to Linen House is via a private door just off Kelso Square, up a double-turn staircase and onto the first floor of the building. Sumptuously decorated throughout, both properties exhibit a seamless combination of elegance, comfort, and homespun charm. The first-floor houses all of the communal spaces. The drawing room contains two plush sofas and two armchairs, a SMART TV, and a decorative fireplace. A separate sitting room also has ample seating - with one of the couches folding out into a double bed - a TV, a chess set, and even a painting easel. Also on this floor is the large, fully equipped kitchen/dining room with seating for 12, the master bathroom with a standalone slipper bath and shower, a TV room/snug (with PS4), and the utility room. The second floor contains four bedrooms, all of which boast super king size beds (convertible to twins) and adjoining bathrooms complete with walk-in shower, basin, and WC.
The separate Scott Apartment is accessible via a door in the snug room or via its own separate rear entrance directly from the street. The apartment has a chic and modern open planned living area, complete with lounge and a modern bumblebee yellow kitchen. One floor up is an additional, beautiful and spacious bedroom, again with convertible super king size bed and an en suite with a large, walk-in rainfall shower.
Kelso is replete with things to see and do the year round. Its cobbled market square is lined with architecturally significant buildings while a farmers' market fills the square each month. The town is home to lots of pubs, cafés, independent shops, and eateries, too. Its two most famous draws are the strikingly impressive ruins of the 12th century Kelso Abbey and Floors Castle, an 18th century country house. Other events in and around Kelso include National Hunt Race meets at Kelso Racecourse, the Floors Castle Horse Trials, the Massed Pipes and Drums, Antique Fairs at the Border Union Showground, the Borders Book Festival, and the Walking Festival.
