Sitting atop undulated Cotswolds hills on their own private land just off the village of Ford are the Hill House Shepherd's Huts. At Hill House, guests will have the choice of two luxury cabins: The Nest and The Lookout. While similar in construction, the huts have their own distinct character and features. At The Nest, your neighbours will be a couple of free-range chickens - eggs for breakfast, anyone? - and you're sure to be struck by the arresting views of Bybrook Valley. The Lookout, sitting atop a hill overlooking the village of Ford, has its very own two-person wood fired hot tub and telescope - perfect for taking in the panoramic valley views and uncorrupted night sky. With each providing an idyllic couple's getaway in a storybook location, the only quibble you will have with Hill House Shepherd's Hut will be in choosing which one to go for.
Both have been designed to the highest of standards and are surprisingly spacious. The Nest has an interior comprised of soft tones which allude to its rustic location while The Lookout exhibits a more Eastern theme, with opulent Persian colours and textures on show. While each has their own unique personality, there are several features which the cabins share. The kitchens are fully equipped with ample workspace, a Belfast sink, hob, fridge, and beverage making facilities, while there is a seating area complete with a table, chairs, and wood burning stoves (fuel is provided). The cabins have a double size bed with a comfy mattress and the bathroom comes with a washbasin and hot shower. Each hut benefit from their own private garden, complete with outdoor seating, cobb oven, fire pit, and pizza oven (dough is available upon request). Guests will also have access to a beautiful orchard which sits adjacent.
The village of Ford sits in the southern Cotswolds. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this historic region is known for its rolling hills, beautiful countryside, picturesque villages, and numerous walking trails. The Macmillan Way, a long-distance footpath of 290 miles, runs right through the nearby Bybrook Valley, while the area is also a favourite of amateur birdwatchers. The historic Castle Combe is a very short walk from the huts, and the market town of Chippenham is less than a 10-minute drive east. The Roman city of Bath - itself a UNESCO World Heritage Site - is a 25-minute drive southeast and well worth a visit.

Leave a reviewThe perfect digital detox, short drive to Bath if you want to go shopping etc. We stayed in The Lookout which is beautifully finished and the hot tub was fantastic. Our pooch Mabel loved patrolling up and down the little wall and we had a visit from the local sheep a couple of times as well. Would 100% recommend.
