Higher Roskestal is owned and managed by Ashleigh Smith.
Nestled among meadows and pastures, set back from the stunning coastline, Higher Roskestal is a marvellous self-catering cottage with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Tastefully decorated inside and out, and perfectly located to take advantage of the area’s beaches, Higher Roskestal is the perfect place for families, friends, and groups of couples. It's ideal for anyone who is looking to spend some time amid the rugged beauty and wild charm of Cornwall’s coast.
Higher Roskestal is arranged around a spacious and light-filled main living room, which benefits from sea views and an airy feel. Overhead, exposed beams run across the ceiling, the walls are finished in subtle, muted tones, and there are hardwood floors underfoot. This is the room most guests find themselves in when they aren’t outside, often curled up in front of the wood-burning stove with a glass of wine, or sat around the dining table with a cup of coffee, planning their day’s activities.
You’ll find the contemporary fitted kitchen next door, with everything that you need to prepare meals for up to six guests. Upstairs, the master bedroom enjoys far reaching views to the sea and an en-suite shower room. The next bedroom is set up with twin beds, and also benefits from an en-suite. While the third bedroom has no en-suite, there is a third bathroom meaning that each bedroom can have its own bathroom. The bedrooms are substantial and are finished in the style of the house, combining classic, farmhouse style furniture with a striking palette.
Everything about this detached cottage suggests warmth, comfort, and style. From the expansive private gardens, walled in for total peace of mind with dogs and children, to the substantial outhouse where you can store water sports equipment and bikes, everything has been thought of to ensure that you enjoy your time away with minimal stress.
In the morning, head out for the beach at Porthgwarra Cove by taking a green and pleasant fifteen minute stroll, or drive there in less than five minutes. This area is a haven for fauna, with many species only found on this small patch of coastline. By night, look out for the magical greenish light of glowworms just off the coastal paths, and watch for the distinctive Red Admiral butterfly during the day. Buzzards and chuffs fly overhead, and the hedgerows and pasture make this an ideal space to spot badgers, foxes and hedgehogs.
While the beach is an obvious appeal, you’re also close to the award winning outdoor Minack Theatre, so be sure to check their program. Cornwall has a thriving artist scene, with studios and galleries dotted throughout the area. Alternatively, head to Sennen Cove, widely regarded as the best surfing beach in the Westcountry.
There is an outhouse with plenty of room for bikes, surfboards and wellies
