Situated in the tiny hamlet of Burlingjobb near Presteigne and Kington, Hergest Lee Cabin is wrapped in beautiful Welsh scenery, with forests, hills and trails right outside the doorstep making it the perfect place to escape and reconnect with the land. The cabin was designed to mirror the curves of Hanter Hill opposite, sitting harmoniously within the landscape.
All the fitted elements, from the kitchen units and cupboards to the staircase, floating bed and bathroom unit, have been designed and handcrafted to create a continuity of style and tone. There is a predominantly mid-century feel to the interior design with the simple lines of Ercol 203 chairs and the soft leather of the Stouby sofa, with some eccentric additions sourced from local artists and antique fairs. The colour palette is in muted shades of greys, browns and blues taking inspiration from Edwardian drawing rooms.
Large double doors lead into the chic open-plan living space. The kitchen has all you need to rustle up dinner with a two-burner gas hob, toaster and lots of pots and pans. There is a small plug-in oven and a small fridge, but no freezer, plus an extendable table with pull-out stools gives you space to dine. A comfy Ercol chair and leather sofa provide an ideal spot to sit and take in the beautiful scenery or read a book. You will find board games, a selection of books and a television to keep you entertained.
Up the floating staircase, you will find the open mezzanine area which is most suitable for young children as it is a cosy yet snug space with a double and single mattress. Through the living space is the master bedroom with its king size bed and soft linen sheets. It's a tranquil space to take time out and destress. A stunning free-standing antique roll-top bath overlooking the hill provides the perfect place to relax after a long walk and attractive box storage over the bed and a small cupboard offer ample storage space. To the right of the bedroom is a modern wet room with a sink.
Outside the cabin, there is a small, decked area and enclosed garden to sit and enjoy your morning coffee while immersed in the natural beauty of your surroundings. A fire pit allows you to grill your sausages while looking out for local wildlife or doing some star gazing.
Your cosy cabin offers the opportunity to be surrounded by history and wildlife beside the 8th century ancient monument along the English-Welsh Border. Offa's Dyke Path is a short walk away and part of this ancient trail is the spectacular Hergest Ridge. The Radnor hills and forests are tranquil places to explore with dramatic landscapes and you will find lots of crystal clear wild swimming spots close by.
