Farm building conversion providing luxury accommodation for two on Hadrian’s Wall, a peaceful rural escape for couples.
Please note: minimum stay for this property is: 3 nights low season & 7 nights high season
Set on a working farm built upon Hadrian’s Wall, Heavenfield Cottage provides luxury self-catering accommodation for two. Once one of the farm’s buildings, the cottage has been beautifully renovated to create a cosy escape with some of the best views of the area and with plenty of great walking opportunities right on the doorstep.
Step into Heavenfield Cottage and you’ll find a cosy open-plan living space and kitchen area. The high ceilings with the wooden beams and exposed stone behind the wood-burning stove offer a charming reminder of the building’s former life, while perfectly complementing the contemporary furnishings. Snuggle up on one of the sofas in front of a roaring fire in the evenings and enjoy a film on the smart TV or get stuck into a good book. The kitchen is fully-equipped with everything you’ll need for a self-catering holiday, including a dishwasher. There’s an oak dining table for two set under the window where you can enjoy hearty breakfasts before heading out for the day’s adventures and romantic dinners in the evenings.
You’ll find a super-king size bed in the bedroom, complete with pure Egyptian cotton bedding for a luxurious night’s sleep. The bathroom features a beautiful freestanding bath, a separate walk in rainforest shower and fluffy towels and bathrobes are waiting for you.
Outside, there’s a pretty south facing garden at the front of the cottage with seating where you can enjoy the sunshine amidst the flowers. There’s also a patio to the rear of the cottage with outdoor furniture, a barbecue area and a wood store.
While Heavenfield Cottage is situated on a working farm where you can enjoy some peace and quiet, it is only a few miles from some charming towns and villages, offering the best of both worlds. It’s just two miles to the village of Humshaugh where you can stop off at the pub for lunch and a pint of real ale or there’s the village of Wall a five-minute drive away where you’ll find Hjem, a Michelin Star Restaurant. The historic market town of Hexham with its medieval streets and beautiful 12th century Abbey is just five miles away. Of course, being built on the site of one of Britain’s most famous Roman relics, there are plenty of places close to the cottage where you can learn more about the area’s history. Explore Hadrian’s Wall itself and visit the Roman Army Museum and Vindolanda Fort for a fascinating day out.
