  The Detail...

Stay in a stunningly converted old church in a sleepy village in tranquil Somerset. The Gothic Church offers all the splendour of grand Victorian architecture with the modern comforts and furnishings suited to a luxurious and special break. Sleeping up to 21 guests across six bedrooms, this accommodation is ideal for large parties, smaller groups and family getaways. With its own outdoor spa area housing a large hot tub, as well as a feature wood-burning stove in the living area, this old church is the perfect haven for relaxing and socialising in peace.

Built in 1838, The Gothic Church has that quintessentially awe-inspiring appearance that is synonymous with the architecture of that period. With original stained-glass windows, a vaulted atrium and stone exterior, this is a truly memorable place to stay. Each of the bedrooms is spacious and beautifully decorated, containing a total of 15 beds. There is also a double sofa bed in the living room that sleeps two, and a further two camp beds available.

The extensive kitchen is 44 feet long and is equipped to cook up a feast for all guests, and includes a nice breakfast bar. There is a large banquet hall for big dinners, as well as a cosy living space containing a modern glass wood-burning stove. The property has one family bathroom with a gorgeous standalone roll-top bath, as well as an additional shower room. Outside you'll find a private courtyard, home to the spa as well as parking for three cars.

Nestled within the peaceful Somerset village of East Horrington, The Gothic Church is just two miles from Britain's smallest city, Wells, which offers plenty of charming shops, eateries and a twice-weekly market. The village may seem familiar to you when you arrive as it boasts a number of big-screen filming credits, providing the location for movies such as 'Hot Fuzz', 'The Golden Age' and 'The Libertine'. Not too far away you will also find Glastonbury, as well as the cities of Bristol and Bath around 30/40 minutes away by car. The famous Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole and Mendip Hills are all close-by, as well as some of the country's finest coast line.
